i was going to ask why but just looked it up. I know Chalmette has nice facilities is why i was going to ask. I keep up with Chalmette as my wife is from there originally & has family still in the area.

Because their daddy and granddaddy and uncle went to Holy Cross.

Holy Cross has a massive legacy expectation among some Chalmette families.

Chalmette is also a large school and some families don’t want that

Finally yes a little bit of white flight type stuff… don’t want the kids to go to school with “those” people

By and large and since integration it has been HC, with sprinklings at BM. Over the past decade though increasing numbers to JC (Cade Beloso).

Curtis has a bus that locks up in Gentilly, some Chalmette kids do that.

Pope has also started running a bus here for kids that don’t want to be in Catholic league

BM is starting to pull a bit more. My daughter has a friend that is a freshman lineman at BM that is already bigger than any of the Chalmette seniors…

But let’s not lie, the Catholic League IS a draw for those schools… HC could and probably should have dropped to 4A, Curtis could always go back to 2A, and Karr almost got sent to the JP district, but they all wanted the Catholic League. Of course we’re at an attendance zone disadvantage*, but I think us getting blown away by Neville in football and WM in baseball opened everyone’s eyes. We’re not gonna get the kids we need to get past those points if we’re playing in weaker districts.

*we do have the no tuition and no admissions department/OneApp advantages. Just show up in the parish and you can play here

ironically this led to st bernard's population growth in the 60s. Many 9th ward and 7th ward families headed to da parish of few trickled to the westbank

When we say travel ball is a joke, it’s because if teams like this. They fish for rings rather than play elite competition

i agree on things like that but doing that requires travel and the MSB also thinks thats insane and also bitches about having to play travel to make a decent hs program but then celebrates the good teams

cant have it both ways either

Sure

But there a lot of trouble families at these schools too

You want to provide the best you can but you can’t shelter kids forever. They need to learn the real world at some point

Central vs. St. Amant will be a good one this weekend.

It sucks when district teams line up first and second rounds:
Prairieville vs. Live Oak and winner gets Walker. I know it is based on power points but wished they would break those up sometimes.

it was big but the championship was much bigger

I will be pulling for them like crazy though thats for damn sure. gonna try and go watch some. this is prolly their best team since 01 or maybe 98 and best shot to win it all since the last ship

I do feel like hosting doyle gives them a shot especially with Hardesty and Anderson on the bump for sure. Sterlington is going to be very tough but in 1 game....anything can happen
