Not a great showing from Coco. In best of 3, there’s just not a lot of time to find your game. And this Ukrainian chick was really smashing the ball, she played a hell of a match.
It’s a shame, Coco’s outfit was very nice and deserving of a deeper run in the tourney lol.

I saw some chatter about that at Talk Tennis right before the tournament started. I think they are messing with the balls.

I'm sure Pride has some thoughts here. One issue is that polyester strings have made the sport parabolic instead of linear such that they allow guys to hit angles and passing shots they couldn't in the past. So, you're not quite in control of points the way you might have have been from an offensive position and rushing the net is suicide.
I believe they also changed the grass recipe in 2002. It's very interesting that Ivanisevic/Rafter was the 2001 final, then 2002 was Hewitt/Nalbandian.
