To be fair, he braked early compared to his ‘standard’ lap driving as well. Brake checking on cars that don’t have brake lights is dangerous.

The scoring is transparent, you can see how everyone's scorecard adds up.

Nice.

I'm feeling halfway good about my picks still except I really didn't expect Alpine to be THIS bad. The struggles were obvious but I had a hard time picturing them being dead last, which looks like a real possibilty if they don't get it together. That's saying something given how awful Sauber is.

What happened to the fighting tiger guy, did he ever come back or did he get banned or something?

He didn't seem like the type of dude to do something to get banned lol.

Wow, Marko revealed that Red Bull Junior Ayumu Iwasa will take Danny's place for FP1 at Suzuka.

That's the last thing Danny needs, someone taking away seat time at such a critical point in his fading career.

No doubt, for their pocketbooks, Ferrari made the right decision, but don't think their chances of a constructors or drivers is any greater with the Hamilton move.

Back in the day, Ferrari had a penchant for hiring great drivers past their prime. I hope this move doesn't turn out to be reminiscent of those times. One thing that can be a positive is developmental skills, but even if Hamilton was the equal of Schumacher in that regard (I don't think anyone is or has been) it really wouldn't matter due to the limited testing and Hamilton isn't a big fan of the simulator. Ferrari always had an advantage in the unlimited testing days because of Fiorano being a stones throw from the F1 complex.

It takes me a minute to adjust to former rivals driving for Ferrari so it may just be me in that moment with Hamilton, but I am concerned dropping Carlos may be a mistake. HAM winning his 8th WDC in a Ferrari would be a bittersweet moment for me.

I called that on this board two years ago when he was out of contract with Merc… why the hell wouldn’t he go to Ferrari, the face of F1 to win and ride off to the sunset.

Not to mention he already got his AMG-One, so might as well move to the team with better company cars I know I would.

I'm on record as saying Ferrari will regret signing Ham.

And not only because his skills are fading.

Naw, Ferrari is all in and committed to his social antics. That was part of the appeal. They wanted the attention.

Think that’s the craziest benefit. I mean, most of these drivers can afford the cars they are driving, but seeing the pics of them in their limited edition Ferraris and the likes is def a benefit. Not to mention the watches. I’ll take a 500k Richard Mille.

I watched that video and I still don’t agree with a penalty there.

Besides a full on Brake Check with RUS literally on his tail I don’t see how you penalize him. If ALO makes a mistake there like he said and it gives RUS enough of a chance to make a pass then so be it.

Can someone briefly explain the relationship between FIA and F1?

Is FIA the paid rule enforcer of F1?

The FIA owns the Formula 1 name. It essentially is F1. There is no F1 without the FIA.

In the 90s the courts in Europe found they were anti-competitive and forced them to split, so their answer was to LEASE commercial rights for F1 to FOM for 110 years. FIA still owns the trademark to F1 and owns the championship, FOM controlled the commercial rights and activities

Liberty Media bought FOM, so now they have that.

F1 can't split from FIA. Certainly all the teams could quit racing for F1, use the Liberty Media umbrella to setup their own rules, create a championship, and to negotiate with the tracks for race dates but it wouldn't be F1. FIA owns that.
