I didn't necessarily get this interaction when it happened. What was the gentle introduction he was talking about? I feel like I missed something.

My take on this whole Mclaren thing
When people ask why RB don't want a true challenger to max, this is why. Not having a clear 1-2 is a disaster and just go look at every instance of it in F1.
Norris absolutely could have gotten around Hamilton in that car he had. Why open that entire can of worms is beyond me. They clearly know how important that win was for Oscar and to give him that pity win is so sad. I would have told Norris to stay in P1.

Just caught up watching the race. I am a McLaren fanboi. What a cluster.
What is frustrating to me is that Piastri drove horribly in the last stint. Speculation, but I don't think Piastri wins the race if he pitted first. I think Norris would have caught and passed Piastri.

This was my thought as well. If Lando doesn’t drag his feet and let’s Piastri by him early then he has 10-12 laps to race him. He put 6 seconds on him while he was in front.

It's just so damn hard to pass at that track, especially between same car and tires.

Maybe so,but Piastri was told not to worry about Lando.
Piastri finished with a gap to Hamilton of 17 seconds.
How hard was Lando pushing and was Piastri just working on keeping his gap to Hamilton.
I don’t know the answer.
But what a demolition by Mclaren.

They should be. The only way they don't catch up and win it is if FIA comes down on their brake ducts after RB lodged that complaint about them.
I'm not convinced Max wins the WDC at this point either. He'll, at this point I'm not convinced he wins another race this year.
