I'm watching the AlphaTauri guys on the chart. Alonso and Hamilton on hards have been pulling away from Tsunoda on mediums. Lawson has been on Tsunoda's tail since they came out of the pits. Lawson has better pace, Tsunoda is holding him up.

Update 35 min. later:

Lawson undercut Tsunoda by 5 laps. When Tsunoda came out of the pits, he was 5 seconds behind Lawson. (Both pitted for hards.) Now Tsunoda is right on Lawson's tail. Now it looks like Lawson is holding Tsunoda up.

In any case AlphaTauri botched their strategies, starting both on softs, then going to mediums before going to hards.

Passing on the outside of Turn 1 at Suzuka is pretty spectacular.

After Tsunoda's terrible luck the last two races, they finally had the opportunity to compare Lawson and Tsunoda head-to-head. They even gave them both the same wrong strategy, starting on softs then going to mediums, and then hards. And they were neck-and-neck the WHOLE race, from Turn 1 to the finish line, where Lawson finished I think less than a second in front of Tsunoda. Lawson needs to be in F1 next year. I think Perez is giving them a reason to put Danny in the Red Bull next year (if he can prove that he's "back" the rest of this season) and Lawson in the Hugo Boss.

Also it's so clear that AlphaTauri just doesn't have the race pace of the top 6 teams. I think Lawson finished 20s behind the Alpines. When they have the occasional great qualifying session, they spend the race fending off faster cars they happened to qualify in front of.

Perez contract is through next season right?

No way I see them extending. Underperforming like a MF in that car.

RB still got the championship with 6 races left, but doesn't mean he isn't flaming poop.

Through 24. Perez did exactly what Horner wanted and the constructors and will likely do it again next year. Not sure Max wants teammate that is running closer to him but maybe he does since he’s likely getting bored running so far ahead. I could see DR3 making a return at RB if next season goes well at AT. Lawson is WAY too good to keep on the sideline for much longer. Not sure Tsunoda’s intangible value but after his performance today I don’t see why you need to keep him on the roster.

Fun race. Tough weekend for Williams and Perez.

Incredible work from McLaren.

Woof, Checo had a hell of a day, and yet, his team still won the Constructor's. Just imagine how much earlier they'd have locked it up if they had a #2 that could bring home in P2 every week.

Checo has to be dead man walking at Red Bull by now. He's had more frick ups than he should be allowed. Got the fastest car on the track and cannot get to the second row, much less the first.

I hope they keep perez.

With last week being the first time they have been beaten this season,Mclaren outscored them again this weekend.
So 2 in a row for Mclaren and Ferrari beat them last week. Ferrari and Mclaren have 57 to 40 for red bull.
Could we get a 3rd week in a row?

Best hope of a close constructors championship.

Though it will probably be announced he is being replaced after the Mexico gp at the end of October.

And woohoo Piastri.
Well earned podium.

Once he gets another year of experience things will really start to heat up with Lando.
Think it will be one of the great battles next season.

The rest of the field is closing the gap and will likely continue to do so next year.

Max won't be able to win the constructor's championship by himself with Ferrari, McLaren and Merc finishing ahead of the Mex week in and week out even if he was to somehow win every race.

I mean that’s pretty much what happened this season. The thing that has worked in RBR’s favor is that none of the other teams have been consistent enough to push for constructors. Merc, Ferrari, Mclaren, and Aston Martin have all been the second best team at some point this season.

I don’t think that is something that can be counted on next season though.

That was a great race. I wonder why Norris was so much faster than Piastri?

And that is the point.

Perez has turned into a liability that I doubt Racey Spice and Darth Marko want to roll the dice on next year.

Look how fast they dumped Albon and Gasly in the past. They don't frick around.
