Yeah. That chart is stupid.

Shocking that you feel that way

Taking win shares so seriously without accounting for injuries is useless. OKC and Houston will both gain a ton of win shares just by staying healthy.

It's also assuming people are going to play the same way they did last year, and that's definitely not always the case. Especially for guys who just got paid.

Yeah. Basically way too many variables that are way more important than win shares.

its more, you cant use one stat as an end all be all

A lot of teams will gain win shares by being healthy.
Last season had tons of superstars get injured and sit out for 15+ games. Was pretty ridiculous.

I didn't mean loaded with talent. But they have a ton of players, like 19 right now. Most are former 1st rounders that never developed or still young.

Ziller addressed basically every point that has been made in the article:

The nitty gritty is ill-served by this chart -- injuries, player improvement, player regression, team schemes, minutes allotments and all of that will have bigger, unaccounted-for impacts. But I find it useful to spot interesting items for further exploration

Win Shares are not perfect, and some analysts (who will no doubt express their opinion in the comments section below) won't touch them with a 10-foot pole.

Yep, it also doesn't take coaching changes (or player growth and improvement) into consideration. GS jumped 16 wins, without much of a difference in player personnel.

FIFZ. He can "address" every point, but that doesn't mean that the chart didn't ignore them.

I'd hope not.

Jeez. Dude is such a frick-up. I read last night that Morey isn't high on him because of his off the court problems and selfish personality. Apparently, Harden likes him, but Morey basically thinks it wouldn't work out.
