Vanderbilt in serious talk with Jerry Stackhouse for their job.

Have heard nothing but crazy good things about him with the Grizzlies, especially from the younger players but that is a hell of a risky hire.

At least if it goes poorly it won't be as boring as the last 2 guys

Final Four results sort of led me down a rabbit hole looking at some stats from this season. I was mainly looking at 3pt shooting because of how I thought it was the number 1 issue for Duke and Kentucky. Duke shoots them horribly and Kentucky doesn't shoot them enough (336 in the country in attempts). The teams they lost to are basically their complete opposites. Michigan State is 26th in the country in 3pt% and Auburn is 2nd in attempts. Here is some stuff that stood out to me (numbers are national rank):

3PT Attempts: Buffalo (9), Bama (193)
Assist/Turnover Ratio: Buffalo (17), Bama (275)
Assists Per Game: Buffalo (15), Bama (257)
FG% Defense:Buffalo (81), Bama (159)
FT Attempts: Buffalo (36), Bama (52)
OReb Per Game: Buffalo (22), Bama (84)
Scoring Offense: Buffalo (5), Bama (187)
Turnovers Forced: Buffalo (35), Bama (279)
KenPom AdjO: Buffalo (20), Bama (103)
KenPom AdjD:Buffalo (30), Bama (58)

George, why is there such a discrepancy in the SOS rankings between Sagarin and Connelly?

I think Connelly's takes in to account what you would expect a team to do with that schedule, as in a team going undefeated with a shitty schedule will be higher than team that went 6-6 with a tough schedule.

I boycott CFA already because their food is terrible.

This is straight up pre-crime
They exploited what I feared was our issue all season, get our LB's covering in space or have them hesitate. Their chunk plays all seemingly came from a LB being forced to cover someone or being unable to shed a block after allowing a lineman to reach the 2nd level. The defense was mostly fine with it came to sort of the expected situational plays like 3rd and 8+ and even some 3rd and shorts.

That staff knows a ton about what we want to do on defense, especially considering I doubt Tosh has really been able to put his imprint on it because he is so new to the job.

It wouldn't pay out over something like what happened to Jaylon Smith that dropped him from top 5 pick to 2nd rounder and cost him $15M.

His did payout, but not an amount close to what he would have made if he was drafted there.

I think Fournette had like a $10m policy

and imo we got as far as we realistically should have last year. Everyone on this board would have taken 2nd round of the tourney at the start of the year.

Yet he gets zero credit.

If we suck this year, well then that's another story.

And the team we lost to steamrolled their way to a title

We keep hiring in terms of an up and comer, the hot assistant hire, not a legit program that deserves proven winning. Auburn did just that with their last hire and are reaping the benefits.

We currently have a former NBA COY who coached in the fricking NBA Finals. That is better than anything on Pearl's resume.

We also chased after Gregg Marshall hard before hiring Avery.
The Ole Miss game where we started Cooper Bateman. Soon as that got announced I thought we would lose.
From the end of last season from Mgoblog:

Michigan – we’re getting screwed, right?

I’m going to go with a yes. As it turns out, Michigan and Alabama are in a special kind of unlucky streak, stretching for many years. The below is a graph of all FBS teams 2012- present (B1G teams are represented by their logos) for all games played. Michigan is towards the top right – in the “we’re getting screwed” category. The only team that has fared worse is Alabama. A lot worse. Since 2012, Alabama has drawn a holding once every 260 plays. That is nearly 2.5 times the averag

That is us up there in the corner by ourselves.

I'm normally one who just puts up with it, but last night was the most egregious stuff I've ever seen go consistently unpunished.

Evans. I think he'll be great in that defense.

He is going to be Vrabel's baby. I love it.

I don’t think the offensive line ever looks good in the A-Day game. I think they will probably be fine.

I feel like I remember Tim Williams getting like 6 sacks one A-Day

I will follow crazy Tony into the abyss
It’s just what he does. He literally ripped up Dejuan Wagner’s scholarship papers back at Memphis and look what happened there. I wouldn’t worry about Knox and SGA coming back.
Ehh the UK guys always seem to waver until Cal straight up pushes them out the door

(2) Donta' Hall develops a pick and pop 15 footer that is good enough to at least have to be respected by opponents. This will be even bigger with a non-lottery pick PG.

Unless the big is popping to the 3 point line I don't want it and Hall isn't becoming a 3 point shooter.

Its stupid that he didn't have 4 putback dunks a game off of just rolling opposite side of a Sexton drive.

. Im sure Pelphrey had something to do with that

 Why does it have to a Pelph thing? Avery's probably biggest strength as a coach is setting his teams up to take away what you do best offensively.
Wait I am confused. You would really want Tom fricking Crean over Avery? My Dad is a massive IU fan and I lived that tenure.
