great observation from puru saxena

Today's crop of asset-light high growth compounders are probably the best businesses in the history of capitalism. Never before have so many companies been able to grow so rapidly for so long, generate recurring revenues with such high gross margins and have such big TAMs
Own the very best businesses you can find, don't get shaken out by the stock market's zigs and zags and sit tight. Let the extremely smart founders and their fantastic business teams innovate and do their thing.

I'm amazed at how well you phase in and out of trolling across multiple boards on this site
It's truly impressive. I have a sneaking suspicion that he's more intelligent than he may seem.
I'd bail on TDOC. Insurers aren't paying for telemed anymore, at least not here, and I've heard nothing but bad experiences from pt's that have tried it. One only had to pay $10 cause insurance encouraged it. Diagnosed with likely UTI over the phone. System wouldn't let teledoc prescribe first two antibiotics due to drug interactions with pt's ibuprofen. Gave 3rd antibiotic that had about zero chance of treating UTI. I see patient 4 days later. Now with fever, worsening urinary symptoms, and a yeast infection from initial treatment. Now she's out her full co-pay for a real exam, urine culture, proper medication, med for yeast infection first medication, costs of first med and $10 copay.
2nd patient, same day. $50 but didn't have to take off work. Told probably had COVID or Flu, maybe pneumonia. Recommended COVID, Flu Swab and CXR. See PCP. Did and pt insisted on all of the above after being scared shitless by Teledoc. Pt didn't need any of the three. All negative and now gets to pay for all that plus visit and a higher level visit than initial complaint would have warranted.
That's just the beginning. Unless they partner with some brick and mortar clinics and actually allow their doctors to treat instead of calling everything viral or giving a low dose of antibiotic with inappropriate coverage. Or the often used. Can't treat that. Need to see PCP. And just wait until they start getting their asses sued off.
Can't wait for my daughter to get out of law school.
They could turn things around, but if insurers allow telemeds and pay appropriately, I'll do them as will every other provider. They don't, so we don't. Plus we know the patients and are readily accessible if it's something that needs face to face care. They're doing shite we do for free when we go over our phone calls. How's that marketable? I still follow them and others, but right now I can't see the upside. Of course with healthcare, it's whatever the gov't and insurers dictate. Not what's most cost effective, efficient and highest quality.

My personal take is that telemedicine could be appropriate and useful in real but limited situations. I think they could be very valuable for patients as a supplement to primary care practice. Especially because the typical problem for physicians in primary care practice is they bill for diagnostic tests but mostly not for their time.
That's ideally where a telemedicine consultation could be excellent - provided that they have the full medical record and expertise in the relevant pathology involved. That means appropriate billing for the telemedicine must include the time for review of the records and time for discussion and explanation for the patient. That could be very valuable because the primary care provider may not have the time and without the time patient compliance and satisfaction will often suffer.
I am specifically skeptical about telemedicine as a substitute for emergency care. There's no physical examination and may be no ability to order diagnostics. I am also skeptical about its utility when dealing with serious but uncommon disease. A general practioner refers these types of cases to specialists for good reason.

Blue Cross Blue Shield is CONSTANTLY sending me TDOC related emails. I have to believe they are for real. I’ve already sold them for a big loss though. Once it appears they are back to last year’s character I’ll jump back in.

I actually had a medical issue for the first time in a long time this year, and got on mychart for the first time. About a week later after going through that, I sold all my tdoc about 2 months ago. I just feel like with zoom and mychart, what else do you need? Just seems like the hospital groups can create their own stuff and not give tdoc money. I guess it had a lot of potential in rural areas, but to justify this valuation?? Plus the stock action sucked recently.
Made money on the way up, started buying in March 20, but got a little greedy at the end and got burned, had alot during that last run up in Feb but didn't take profits: probably broke about even on the stock in the end.

This. I don't know anyone that used TDoc during COVID. Many free encrypted telemed options linked to our current systems. They had their chance, but tried to replace doctors instead of including them. The one that figures this out in a win-win-win for them, doctors, and patients will win the prize.

Evercore today raised its price target on Square $SQ to $353 from $317 while maintaining its Outperform rating

I’m interested in $SQ. Will probably start a position soon, but concerned a little with the overall market stability.

cgrand what is your opinion on FSLY? I continue to see analyst reports that are skewing negative, and many downgrades. TIPranks has them as a 1 out of 10, The Street updated to 'Sell'. Just a few that I'm following. But the Technicals are looking rough over the last 3-4 months.
Are you still bullish on them long term? I suppose ER on 8/4 will be another wild ride.

all of that is true, chart is broken and sentiment is waning. i still think they have the best tech, whether they can act on that and sell to it remains to be seen.
if they reduce guidance in this earnings call it wil be a major red flag

Good point. Anxiously and cautiously awaiting it
Are you continuing to buy? My original thesis was continue to buy if it drops under $50.

my position is full...but buying here would be a decent plan if not.
all eyes on earnings & guidance.
could be a major reversal, or a dump (and a new CEO).
everything on the table

ROKU solid support today above 470, several bounces.
no sign of selling pressure on good volume
if earnings deliver it's on

What price will give you a green light for more SE? If it hits $250, I’m buying. I guess that could happen tomorrow or never but it’s my current plan.

i would be inclined to say "never" at this point, or more likely, no time soon. SE is in growth/expansion mode. actual earnings won't matter for some time
