Seiko SPB143j1

Really cool watch, all of the 62MAS reissues are great. I passed on a SJE093J1 a few months ago. It had been sitting in the display case for a few months at the AD, I guess no one really knew how rare it was. Couldn’t justify dropping $3,500 on one but saw that they’re on Chrono24 for almost twice that now.

Rolling with the SPB381 today. The color variation really shows out in the sunlight:

It’s definitely worth taking the drive up 400, vs slogging it up I-85. Dahlonega is a Hallmark movie town and is worth taking an hour to walk around the square. There’s a few good wineries as well, Kaya is a solid spot.

Do you like hiking? Looks like clear weather on Thursday and Friday. Mt Yonah is very close to Cleveland and has incredible cliffside views of the whole GA Blue Ridge. Plenty of shorter hikes off the AT and waterfalls as well. If you’d rather take it easy, you can drive almost to the top of Brasstown Bald. There’s a shuttle to the summit.

The drive over the mountains on the Richard B. Russell Parkway is beautiful with tons of views. Sunrise Grocery is close to the parkway and has killer boiled peanuts.
I’d be shocked if the Forge ever actually breaks ground, would be cool though. Just did a hard hat tour at the new Rockefeller building, 1072 Peachtree. It’s been a while since Atlanta had a legit skyscraper go vertical. View of the Midtown cluster, pretty wild when you can see the Blue Ridge on a clear day:

Haven’t read through the whole thread, but it’s always interesting to see folks from economically stagnant places dogging on a southern city that is pro-business and making things happen.

That Tennessee game was insane. From what I recall there was no lightning so there were no delays.

Getting an uber out of there was life or death since temps were dropping like 30 degrees within an hour and everyone was soaked
Went in to potentially snag a Pelagos FXD, ended up leaving with the Seiko SPB381. First GMT in the collection.

Coach Chris will get special teams back to serving up grill nutt in ‘26. Can’t afford not to bring him home.
Awesome lume patina on those, looking at Tudor milsub content is crack for me.

There’s a few cool homages out there, ordered a Watchdives WD 5513 to scratch the itch.

You really can’t underestimate how huge of a hire this would be. Someone with this level of competency, not to mention the community impact, gets us well on the way back to LSU standards.

SARB017 Alpinist on a mustard nylon nato.

Giving strong consideration towards a SPB381 in the immediate future

re: Anyone remember Gay Nate?

Gay Nate got it done 9/10 times at the Chimes locale, thought I feel like he started slipping around ‘14-‘15.

Told me I looked like a baby polar bear and botched my buddy to the extent he called home in tears
This is how you know most of these folks never actually spent much time in Athens, probably pissed it’s not Gavin Adcock out there instead of JB.
Caught them last night in Atlanta. Was expecting a legit production but wasn’t sure how Paul’s voice was holding up. Granted I never saw him back in the day to compare, but he sounded really, really good. Can’t believe he can still push 3 hours at that level, especially standing up on the bass. A lot of guys his age would be on the keys most of the show and stand up to sing a couple.
Band was very dialed in, his core guys have been with him since the early 2000s and it shows. Though as a touring musician, I can’t imagine you’d want to make a move after you land the McCartney gig.
Live and Let Die was absolutely nuts.
Been in since 11/24/20, kudes to those that’ve held this thing for longer. Just about my only remaining speculative play I’ve held post-covid, it’s been an interesting ride!

The Alpinist is such a great Fall watch, the green with a leather strap just works.

Some of the new GMT refs are pretty interesting but haven’t been able to see one in person

Recently picked up this SKX009 after watching All Is Lost with Robert Redford. It actually came in on the day he passed ??
I’ve been wanting to get a SKX back in the collection after letting a lady borrow my 007 back in my LSU days and never seeing it again. The fading on the Pepsi bezel is pretty rad in person and the red “Diver’s 200m” has degraded to yellow. Given how dark the dial is, this may be a 007 that someone stuck a 009 bezel on. It’s been fun throwing it on different straps:

Barefoot in The Head(absurd album title)- Chris Robinson Brotherhood has always had an autumn vibe to me
Another day, another Pankreb LSU thread.
As someone who voted for the guy, please don’t blow $1k ($999.99 or whatever) on a vaguely Patek-shaped knockoff Trump watch.

Folks have recommended Hamilton and there’s a ton of traditional options they provide with a leather band you can check out in your price range. The Field Khaki is a classic.

You can never go wrong with a Seiko, the SPB and SSK models are both timeless options with different color varieties in your price range. Can be had on Amazon and you can easily swap bands as needed.

Inching closer to that $4.27/share average for me. All of those buys on the run up are still dragging on me haha
When I worked the front desk at football ops back in ‘15, it sat collecting dust back with the office supply cabinets.

We had The Boot prominently displayed for a couple weeks before it went downstairs to the public trophy area. Of course we gave both back to our respective opponents that Fall haha

A true “you vs the guy she tells you not to worry about”
