The success of today's Starship launch will make or break the IPO I think

How is everyone planning on playing this one?

Me personally I will just wait post IPO when it drops off the table in several months and hopefully get in at a good price with patience.

I'm building SATS, and I'll dump it after the post IPO bump it's going to get. After the IPO inevitable dumps after the first day or two, I'll start dripping my SATS earnings into it for the long haul.
I've learned as a common, small time retail investor there is no point in my trying to get in on the initial IPO rocket. I will not be able to actually get a purchase in until it peaks in the first few hours and will get stuck with a bag for a few months until it catches back up after everyone who can sell immediately sells.

Blackrock owns iShares, they need the allocation to put in their ETFs that follow indexes.

How TF are we handling this, team?

I just went down the rabbit hole of ChatGPT regarding satellites, launch providers, revenue, market size, etc and it speculates that conservatively (with Starship) SpaceX could generate 60 billion per year just launching satellites manufactured by other companies. Aggressively it says 80 billion. If those numbers come to fruition, SpaceX is gonna rake and only need to launch, not build a single thing.

Don't forge the xAI revenue from selling access to Colossus to things like Claude

Yep. I still think this IPO is waaay overvalued but the company definitely has the potential to be there. I’ll hope to buy it much cheaper toward the end of the year.
I also wouldn’t mind a couple failed Starship launches

xAI may be stumbling into the AI-era version of the AWS pivot that Amazon had, which brought Amazon to profitability.
Taking a failure in Colossus and turning it into what will become a printing machine was brilliant. They're getting $1.25B/month for something they had basically scrapped.
In the future, xAI may be the premier provider for these compute centers, and they're teaming with Anthropic on the space AI compute capability.

All I can get if at the IPO. But might not be a long term holder.

Why you can't trust AI. Why would you think a thing that doesn't work, will generate 60 billion per year?

Has nothing to do with trusting AI.
I asked AI to come up with figures “assuming Starship is operational”.

First private shares unlock around day 70 after IPO. I believe from 5 to 15 days most of the index's will be buying because of their rule changes. With a float of only around 4%, I wouldn't expect it to really fall until the new shares are available. Probably the best price opportunity will be in Nov-Dec time frame because all the private shares unlocking. I have also read that the S&P 500 can start buying in December.

S&p500 never actually changed the rules apparently for incision requirements.
They can still change, but since the current rules require 4 quarters of profitability. Space X won't be joining unless they change the rules
NASDAQ the other hand

It's hilarious people still take this stance regarding Spacex after the history of the worlds most reliable rocket. Ever.

This is one you want to buy after it goes below the IPO price.
3-6 months after the IPO.
