And it uses 2k a month in electricity so a net loss of 1k. No thanks

Yeah more information would be needed. Do you have to come out of pocket on water and electricity at some point? I don't know what unused energy from the grid means.

Yea, I don't completely hate the idea as far as ways to limit the need for the just massive data centers, but I'd need to see the full scope of the resource drain to the house. Not a bad thought though.

Is Nvidia paying the electric bill?
Posted on 5/29/26 at 11:29 am to Covingtontiger77
I don't even see theft as a problem.

clickbait
they haven’t even done a beta test yet and this guy is estimating 1000/mo payouts?
I swear this post-facts world we live in is tiresome

Grok says homeowner pays the first $150, they pay the rest

Yes, Span's XFRA (with Nvidia) is real. These quiet, liquid-cooled nodes with 16 Blackwell GPUs mount outside homes like an AC unit and tap spare household power via their smart panels.
**For homeowners:**
- Hardware + install free (they own/operate it)
- You pay Span a flat ~$150/mo covering electricity + internet (they subsidize the actual high usage)
- Plus smart panel + battery backup
Net benefit: Major utility savings, not direct $1k cash/month (that part's hype).
It's early stage—pilots start later this year in ~100 new PulteGroup homes (mainly Southwest). No public application for existing homes yet.

Sounds like the plot for the upcoming movie, "Erin Brockovich II".

You also have to buy their 30,000 battery backup, they leave out that cost.

That might get baked into a spec home but there’s no chance a homeowner will choose to pay for that.

Just wait until the crack heads figure out what’s in that box. You thought copper theft was bad?
Posted on 5/29/26 at 12:28 pm to NoEmpathy
More info needed, but you are just making things up. Electricity cost is more likely $100 than $2000.

Sign me up. Who doesn’t like the sound of a half dozen air conditioners running outside your bedroom window 24/7?

I have a guest house on its own meter. I am willing to let Nvidia load it up with these if they will foot the electric bill
Posted on 5/29/26 at 2:42 pm to NoEmpathy
Our projections are showing it would be between $7k-$10k per month at around 4k mSv of rad during summer months but would be considerably less during winter so you may still come out ahead.

My electric bill is below $150 a lot of months.
Plus with something like this they're spying on you.

I don't think there is any information that NVDA is going to pay that amount of money per month. It is for new homes built by PulteGroup.
