So basically they're admitting that nobody wants to buy our debt

Agreed.

Hard to think this is anything more than a delay of the inevitable. Buying yen. Buying treasuries. Doing everything it can to keep the yields under 5%

Shoulda seen this coming when the Fed ended its RMP program on Monday. A lot of demand dried up. Plus, data centers are flooding the bond market.

Personally I wonder if there might come some legislation that limits the amount of bonds the hyperscalers can issue. Or, somehow get a gentlemen’s agreement to stop issuing bonds.

Repurchases of $2 billion will now be increased to "at least" $4 billion, the US Treasury said.

We spend more than that every day.

Completely meaningless in volume, but the message seems to have gotten the result they were looking for.

BTC acting like a debasement hedge again all of sudden.

My buddies for not selling all of my silver at $100. I’m on a long-term fade of the USD. There is no way out of the box.

Buybacks aren't really money printing. It's just swapping off the run USTs for new issuance with a net effect of temporarily slightly lower yields. Yields are down today more on the news that they're doing something than on the mechanics of the paltry buybacks which amounts to $4B in a $40T pool.

One step closer to overt yield curve control.
