Down in the 5’s as expected. With the new fee structure and layoffs, this thing might have a run soon.

Lockup period in the rear window. Only other thing that could be a drag is just the market in general.

It will be interesting to see where $WTRH goes from here. They'll soon be able to deliver alcohol from everywhere from restaurants to grocery stores. Though, there's nothing stopping other delivery services from doing the same.

Waitr to Deliver Alcohol

Unfortunately there's also the issue of restaurants ditching Waitr because they're upping their fees ranging from 15-25%.

How badly inflated will the prices be?

Probably enough to make up the 15-25% Waitr restaurant fee. I think you're already seeing restaurants inflate their prices on the app vs in store prices.

One article I read said the agreement WTRH has with partner restaurants prohibits having a two-tier pricing menu that you described.

I think they’re not SUPPOSED TO raise their prices to compensate, but several restaurants I have looked at ordering from do it. I wonder if they have someone that reviews the menus periodically or if they depend on users to report stuff like this.

Okay, just saw the BR Business Report article from Monday. Waitr released new terms which include the rate hikes AND terms stating that they can't charge more than menu price.
quote:

Based on the terms of the new agreement, partner restaurants with food sales from the Waitr platform exceeding $20,000 will be charged a 15% commission from Waitr for every transaction. The commission increases in brackets, reaching a cap at 25% for restaurants with monthly food sales at or below $1,000. The terms also prohibit restaurants from charging a higher price for food ordered through Waitr than regular, in-restaurant transactions, instead passing along the fees charged by credit card companies to the restaurants.

What’s their reasoning for not allowing restaurants to raise their prices? Restaurants have the same motivation to sell to customers. I don’t see how a business thinks a restaurant can eat 25% cost increase. Frankly that’s a laughable idea.

restaurants can raise their prices just fine. They can't just show any discrepancy between what they normally charge and what they charge via the waitr.

I'm sure grubhub and the other have a similar policy.

Do they?

Booking.com for instance with hotels has no issues with hotels increasing their prices to cover the booking.com fee. Same thing with say eBay.

I don’t see why the restaurants should have to eat any fees beyond maybe a credit card fee of 3%. For one, you are encouraging larger chains to develop their own delivery service by decreasing their profit margin.

You can now officially buy a share of WTRH for less than they charge you on an order. Not good.

Put in a limit order to buy at 4.90 earlier this morning. Barely missed on what could have been a quick gain.
Canceled it. Going to see what happens.

This is way too expensive for chains to roll out. Paying for the labor, the vehicles etc adds up when you can have no overhead by paying the fee. Also the exposure to get your delivery service out there and have people specifically seeking your restaurant has a significant marketing cost.

I get Waitr's gripe with restaurants jacking up their prices on the app. How many times are people scrolling through the app and then pick the restaurant based on the results/menus/pictures that the app provides? Probably frequently. And if people realize they can save money by going around the app, then Waitr loses out on not only on their cut from the order, but also the value to the restaurant by not being able to provide the data of the traffic driven through the app. So then the app just becomes a giant takeout/delivery menu that has no revenue stream other than the one time fee to be on the platform.

I just bought back in for a couple hundred shares. We will see how this goes. I did well with it the first time around.
