Your doing well. A great time to increase your investments is to increase your contributions whenever you get a raise. If you get a 3% raise, increase investment contribution by 1%. Also, at some point, start a taxable investment account. Use this account to invest in some individual companies. It will help make you more interested in learning about investing.

That's exactly the plan. Once loans are paid off I plan to put more into 401k. We have a $10k emergency fund that we add to when we can. Trying to be smart!

We are also putting ~$200/month into START accounts for our two kids. Have a third on the way and plan to start a Trump account for him. Trying to give them a head start as well.

Daycare is a killer. I have two kids and spend close to $40k per year on daycare.

I use Fidelity’s SPAXX money market fund for that purpose.
Why SPAXX?
I use FZFXX - Fidelity's Treasury Money Market Fund, seems to perform damn near on line with SPAXX

(We made each of them take out stupid loans in college and then surprised each of them a month after their graduations with us paying the loans off, it made them consider having to do so themselves)
I refuse to put a pencil as to the amount their educations cost us but we too wouldn’t change a thing.
We would be very financially comfortable had we not had kids but not nearly so contented.

Insane for the amount the schooling costs.
ROI for PT is buns, and is why I decided not to pursue it after my bachelor in kinesiology

I am making a good bit more than what my loans were so I am not mad at it. And I love my job. Very good job security as well. Not great but could be a hell of a lot worse.

Spend some money to enjoy life now.
How many elderly billionaires would give up more than you will ever make to be 33 again?

Getting the board opinion on how you guys think I am doing so far with my retirement funds. I am currently maxing out my Roth IRA every year and currently have around $60k in that. I also have an 401k through my employer that puts up 3% as long as I put in at least 1%. I currently have around $30k in that. I am 33 years old and have been working since I was 25. I am about 18 months away from paying off student loans and then I plan to put more into my 401k. What say you fellas on how I am doing thus far?
You’re doing great. I started asking questions around your age and made some small changes but didn’t really start investing closer to 37 or 38.
I’m 12 years older and only have 108 in my Roth. Didn’t start my Roth until 5 years from your current age.

We definitely plan to travel. I want to plan and have enough to live a comfortable life but in my line of work I see plenty of people who start breaking down as soon as they retire. I am definitely an advocate of live life while you can.
