Got into stocks last year and I'm looking forward to the journey. Obviously been a rough start.

My grandfather bought a bunch of IBM stock in the 50s. Seemed to work out very well for him.

Wiki Tiger sold early and won’t show his face again bc he made a good amount of money instead of a hefty fortune

Only time those frequently happen is when the Federal Reserve is accomodative in policy which is not their stance currently with them hiking interest rates and shrinking their balance sheet.

Lot of us here made a boatload on SLI stock last year. Don't invest more than you can lose in one stock and assume it can and will go to $0.

It's a brutal market right now and while we might see a few bear market rallies, expect more brutal choppy action and grinding downwards through the end of this year.

The only publicly traded stock I'm in currently is ORGN. I have a lot of SpaceX shares as well but those don't trade publicly which is great for my sanity haha. Sitting on massive stacks of cash waiting for the worst of the storm to pass and macro trends to improve.

The vast majority of people that didn't sell were drug dealers stuck in jail. Maybe Wiki Tiger was one of the small number that didn't sell their stack, but it's statistically unlikely.

To OP, don't compare yourself to others. That will get you in trouble. You do what's right for you. The market is not a get-rich-quick scheme. It can however be a get-poor-quick scheme.

I know of two GameStop millionaires. These guys were bringing in maybe 50-60k yearly salary and now are worth over (guessing here) 2.5 mil each. The best part is the guy that tipped them off didn’t even play the stock. One of the guys did buy him a new truck for the hook up tho so he didn’t completely miss out I guess.

Have you heard the Chief Indian legend story about Chief Squatting Dog? Quite a story.

I’m awaiting running into GameStop employees in the DFW area. There have to be hundreds that became millionaires unexpectedly.

Mine are all "big ones that got away". I had an order in to buy Netscape when it went public in 1995. The IPO was way oversold, so I was going to buy at market when it opened. No internet trades then. By the time it filled, my expected $30K purchase was $50K. I panicked and sold so I would not have to find the extra $20K. Within a few months it was worth $178K. At age35 in 1995 dollars, a $130K plus gain in 4 months would have been huge for me. Not the best story, but at the time, Netscape was the most oversold IPO in history, or so I recall. I also think this moment was the beginning of the dot com mania.

Add Rocket31 to that short list. Of course, both of these are of (alleged) fortunes lost.

ETA: I know his wasn't in stocks, more of a "trading" story.

Will forever be a legend here.

Also, he went back in May and deleted most of his posts. I have to imagine there is a reason why he is hiding.

pretty much everytime someone comes on here hocking penny stocks or get rich quick schemes and doesn't get removed....causes several life changing stories to occur unfortunately.
