When did a difficult OOC game ever do anything for an SEC team?

I keep seeing this stupid arse statement like it was ever a necessity for anyone in the SEC. The simple fact is it was all about money and flexing on other conferences.

The SEC and Big Ten haven't needed big time OOC games for the last decade.

Wasn’t the whole point of expanding to get more than just the perennial powerhouses a chance? Go back to the bcs, there were teams that had no shot and now they do.

You can gripe about schedules, but these teams won more and lost less than anyone outside of Army and Miami.

Alabama's non-conference schedule wasn't tough at all.

Correct, Western Kentucky was probably the best OOC team they played.

They had recovered from losing to Tennessee and their terrible Vanderbilt loss and were ranked 7th, comfortably in, going into the Oklahoma game.

The moral of the story isn’t about OOC scheduling, it’s don’t get thoroughly dominated by a bad team after you’ve already lost to another bad team plus one other team. It’s not that complicated.

If it wasn’t for their name they would have dropped much further after their losses and wouldn’t have even been in the conversation this weekend anyway.

The simulated BCS rankings have Indiana, Boise and ASU at 8, 9 and 10, ahead of #11 Alabama and #12 SMU.

What methodology would you prefer?

This is the part I still can't agree with. Those aforementioned teams are NOT one of the 12 best teams in the country (I might be able to include Boise). Until SOS or some type of RPI is used this will happen again and again. I hope the games validate it in a HUGE way. We'll see...

Perfectly fine those teams are in

However auto byes need to be eliminated. Teams with byes get a home game. And yeah, no need to schedule tougher OOC games. Just schedule crap teams and go 6-2 in the sec

Exactly. It's not like we played the 2003-2010 Trojans. USC was shite this year. We just laid an egg.

Actual attendance = more money for LSU football (no more Western Carolina or Eastern Michigan type schools).

An additional home game = $$

More money = less reliance on TAF

Less reliance on TAF = more (potential) money redirected to the NIL.

More NIL $ = more (potential) success

As such, here is how I would schedule…

Game One:

Rotate little brothers:
McNeese, Southern, NW St., Nichols, Grambling, SLU

Game Two:

Rotate middle brothers:
ULL, ULM, La Tech

Game Three:

Rotate schools within an easy drive (less than 4 hours)
Rice, USM, S. Alabama, and Sam Houston State

Game 4

Schedule teams that are a longer drive, but still feasible:

Troy, Arkansas St., Texas State, UTSA, UAB, North Texas

Note: Game 3 or 4 can be supplemented with a Service Academy

If LSU is legit, NONE of those teams should win in Tiger Stadium.

Just my .02

what is so hard to fathom about Boise and Arizona State?

it was said from the beginning that the Power 4 + Group of 5 champs are in. Period.
so Boise is in as their conference champ.
ASU is in as their conference champ.

You mean like Vandy beat Alabama right....the team that is whining the most about not getting in? Ssssssooooo, are you saying Vanderbilt should have gotten in? That is EXACTLY what you seem to be saying.

SC and first year FSU weren’t that difficult for a ready and prepared LSU team. We just weren’t that LSU.

It does nothing for you. Also playing in the SEC is no longer an advantage.

That’s actually not true on either front.

The only reason a 3-loss Bama team was in the conversation is because they had an SEC schedule and played Wisconsin.

The conference champions are in along with the power 4

9 spots are filled and not actually the best 9 teams

I believe Alabama is one of the best 12 teams but the SEC has two teams ranked ahead of them going, Alabama beat one of those Teams Georgia and lost the the other Tennessee

The same way a number of the auto bids in the NCAA basketball tournament aren't the best 64 teams in the country.

I would offer they have 64 opportunities to throw some of them a bone/away. CFP does not have that luxury.
