If only Fournette/LSU could have been more effective against Bama those 2-3 years he was “the guy”...

LSU Rushmore without Glen Dorsey who is by far one of the most decorated players in LSU history is not a Rushmore

I’m not a fan of pumping up players that only played against white people.

I hate these kinds of sports arguments. You hear the same stupid argument in baseball about players pre-1947. Players can’t help who they play against. The rules keeping black players out of the SEC had nothing to do with the white players themselves. Those who were great for that era were great based in the competition they played against. Their accomplishments shouldn’t be diminished for things beyond their control

I think the criteria for "LSU Mt. Rushmore" needs to be made clear. Is it just the biggest names/faces from LSU or is it the players who were the best while at LSU? Because as great as Billy Cannon was in his time most people outside of the state of Louisiana dont remember him and I would argue he wouldnt be as successful in today's game anyway. Whereas someone like Shaq is probably the biggest national name of any former LSU athlete ever but his LSU career wasnt quite the same as someone like Burrow. Burrow could possibly have an NFL career equivalent to what Shaq did in the NBA but the likelihood of that happening is highly unlikely (I know people will disagree but is true. No Heisman winner in the past 25 years has been as dominant in the NFL as Shaq was in the NBA. Also none of them have gained that level of popularity either.)

If it's truly an "LSU Rushmore"

If you're going to extend it beyond Football you can't leave off Maravich.

I love this thread...look at all the different opinions. The one point I felt compelled enough to make is that Glen Dorsey has to be included. He’s the most decorated LSU player of all time. His senior season he was practically unblockable! At least until that cheater, Tommy Tuberville, had his OL wreck him because they couldn’t block him with 3 guys!

Recency bias. Tyrann Matthieu was great but isn’t on the LSU football Mt Rushmore. That’s not a slight. There’s only four spots.

3 Locks
Cannon
Casanova
Burrow

Fourth - Dorsey. He basically won the Heisman for Defense, and is the most decorated player.

Can’t get on board with a guy who smoked his way off the team.....but I love him.

Casanova is the only LSU 3 time all American

Had Delpit played like last year, he was set to be the 2nd one. Alot of fans were looking forward to it. But sucks it didn't pan out, despite a really good season.

Its interesting that nobody from the 2003 team is in consideration. If there had to be somebody from that team who would it be? I always thought Chad Lavalais was the heart of that team... of course i was very young
