Nussmeier can play, and he is the starter and has been playing, benching him would likely sow discord

And if he's not 100%, he risks aggravating that injury in a meaningless game with a road SEC game coming up.

Risk vs reward.

Absolutely fricking not… he’s practicing like normal this week should allow for a tune up and chance to stretch the field a bit and try to establish a run game. If LSU goes up 35+ by the 3rd then give home the rest of the night off. Sitting him completely is dumb.

what would be crazy is starting an injured potential 1st round QB a week before going to Oxford against a team you’d be favored to beat by 50 regardless of who’s under center. I legitimately don’t understand how this is even a discussion

Heisman more than likely but he is still first round talent. Dude can anticipate throws and not everyone can do that.

Absolutely not. Take nothing for granted with any opponent. ever. Out of reach by the 3rd quarter? Sure, sit him down and give the backups some Death Valley reps.

Well, OC Lynn Amedee continued to call those passes to the middle of the field.

LSU was up by way more than 2 TD's at the Half. If they would've just run the ball on every play of the 2nd Half, Auburn would not have had the time to score enough points to win.

I'm 81 and still remember this one. Three of his 5 4th Qtr interceptions were returned for touchdowns. LSU went from a two touchdown lead to a 4 point loss.
wow that was before my time and never remember hearing about this one. Auburn rivalry has always been insane

This old time hand written long af box score makes me feel all nostalgic Louisiana State 26 Auburn 30

Not if they can prove he’s been injured, and he balls out the rest of the season.

if your QB can’t throw downfield, he has no business playing. Can’t get into a rhythm with all the throws when you can’t even complete the most dangerous ones
Maybe they’re taking away play calling duties from Sloan and want Nuss to get familiar with whoever is taking over (that’s my only logical guess on why’d you still even consider rolling Nuss out there)

For what reason? This game of football is not for soft people and I can guarantee you Nuss will be on the field Saturday ready to roll and get better.

Sounds like this Nuss injury thing is Kelly taking heat off himself. Like the press and fans are supposed to respond “Oh Coach! We didn’t know! We’re so sorry!”

If Nuss is injured and hurting, why the frick wouldn’t you sit him against SELU? MVB is a proven SEC starter. And if Kelly is playing an injured Nuss because he’s afraid of a “quarterback controversy,” that’s chickenshit.

I would sit him because playing out the injury doesn’t seem to be helping. Also, see what kind of a run option game we can get started with the backup.

They obviously did not want to go public with this information. I am guessing how it would effect gambling lines is probably why. I am sure ESPN has rules now thay they have their own betting site and own the SEC.

The answer is so obvious that I’ll believe his injury is serious if he sits.

SELA is exponentially worse than anything he will ever see at practice, save the he needs reps BS.

I believe this was mostly BK taking heat off his star player.
