Well that’s just pretty stupid to consider LSU national champs in 2011 when we got smoked in the championship game. I was there, that was an arse kicking.

The BCS title game became fraudulent the moment they forgot that “every game counts” and decided to game the system to give Bama a do over. It’s next to Roy Jones Jr in Seoul as the greatest travesty in the history of sport in my mind.

Maybe i'm missing something here, but can you explain this logic? Miles still achieved close to the most prolific LSU team ever in 2011. I really don't think beating Bama was gonna prolong his stay. LSU was still Pre-season ranked #2 in 2012. Les Miles would've $hit the bed in the exact same manner from 2012-2016 regardless.

Totally agree. I think 2019 still happens even if we win one more game in 2011. We still lose all the seniors from that team. We still lose TM7 in the off season. We go into 2012 with Mettenberger at QB. Hill, Landry, and OBJ. 2012 and 2013 probably play out the same. Miles is on the decline 2014-2016.

Maybe Miles gets to stay the whole season and coach o doesn’t intern and is never considered for the job? Maybe whoever the coach is gets Burrow anyway? Maybe Miles only gets an extra game or two and then he is fired, bringing O in to intern and we’re on same path? Too many hypotheticals, but you certainly can’t say 2019 doesn’t happen.

This is a great question. Give me 2011- I was a student and it was the greatest fall of my life.

I do however believe that Bama would have still become as dominant because Saban is just better than Miles at adapting. Hell that's why he won the rematch in NOLA, changed their approach.

Winning in 2011 or 2012 would have cemented even more in Miles’ thick skull that he could win with a 1940s offense, and it would have been so late when LSU finally fired him that it would have been for groping co-eds, not anything on the football field.

This and it's not even close.
Les should've been beaten with a pillow case and bars of soap for his game plan and lack of adjustments.

I'll take 2012. Getting the revenge for 2011 would have been oh so sweet

It would completely change the next decade of LSU football and not sure it would be for the better though

Miles puts in JJ and offense was crap for last month

This is very true, and the writing was on the wall that the rematch vs Bama was gonna be a disaster. Tyrann Mathieu single handedly kept our season alive vs Arky and UGA. Arkansas got up 14-0 before Mathieu returned the punt for a TD then forced a fumble that we recovered and went on to score again before half. Against Georgia he again returned a punt for a TD and then recovered a fumble to start the second half where we then scored and pulled away.

I have to go with 2023 because Jayden, Malik, and BTJ were pretty much a reincarnation of Joe, JJettas, and Ja’Marr.

2023, because that means we beat Saban's Alabama in his last year and kept them from the SEC Championship, plus all the monkeys it knocks off Kelly's back.

The probability of 2019 happening like it did on this timeline is extremely small. But we also might have gone back to back in 2012 if we pull off 2011.

Winning against Alabama in a rematch would have changed our entire trajectory and landscape of the SEC.

Not really, unless you think Saban losing in 2011 send him into a crazy alcohol binge where he forgets how to coach. Bama was always winning it all in 2012.

Even if we win in 2011, we still take a step back in the next few years like every modern LSU natty team has done.

2011 and it’s not close for me. Losing to Alabama/Saban the way we did in New Orleans for all the marbles took a toll on me.

It was literally tee'd up for us in NOLA. It was soooo frustrating to watch and no doubt you can assert the results impacted other facets of both programs and the SEC.

Y'all need to stop with this narrative.

For starters, let's not forget that there was already some internal player issues going on in 2011 with multiple key players getting suspended during the season. Win or lose, that was always going to be the last hurrah for Les.

And again, even if Bama loses in 2011, it just motivates Saban even more and they still win in 2012 with by far the most talented team.

It wasn't some cataclysmic turning point for the conference like y'all are making it out to be.

2023 because of recency bias. And I don’t mean for me, I mean for the general population. Our brand is already near the all time high point due to all the stars we’ve had through here recently and championships also bring additional attention and money to your school.

2011 hurt like hell but winning that one or 2023 is +1 either way and I’d rather hear the program is so prestigious we just Nattied 4 straight coaches that came through here which you would think is an impossible feat. Hasn’t been done anywhere else

If I recall correctly if Miles had won in the dome on 1/9 he would have led the head-to-head with Saban 4-2. That is wacko

Too hard to say what the ripple effects would have been from a 2011 or 2012 title.
