UCLA has been playing without fans for decades. Some other teams also. It can be done but would suck.

Every 2nd half of an LSU game.

college just needs to do whatever the nfl does.

If nfl keeps its schedule then college football in the spring will be a joke. Every remotely championship caliber team will be ravaged by high draft picks not playing to get ready for the nfl.

It’ll be much worse than no or limited fans

I've been upvoting the spring idea until I read this. He's right. If the NFL goes 'no fans', college has no choice unless you wanna see a bunch of JV ball.

IF they do it with no fans I hope they don't use humongous stadiums like Tiger Stadium. The silence would be really weird.

this is a step in the right direction

Starting Monday, the NCAA is allowing Division I coaches to have eight hours of week of film review, chalk talks and team meetings with their players.

I'm going fall without fans.

Well lets assume college football does not start till spring. Football goes March/April/May/ Championships are in June. Does the NFL move its Combine from February to late June, then when is the NFL draft, July? That is when training camps start.

So if CFB goes the Spring route, I would expect half the draft eligible players who have NFL top 3 round grades to not even play, anyone with a first round grade going into the season, I doubt any of them play.

As we know, many top notch players skip the bowl season if there team is not in a NY6 bowl or better as it is.

I would rather play football in the fall with no fans in the stadium, but that would assume college students return to campus. Most of the P5 AD's are saying the only way you play in the fall is if students are allowed on campus. The issue with stadiums is LSU/Bama/Penn State/Ohio State/Michigan/UGA type places with 100K fans packed into a stadium then using cramped rest rooms, etc, that would be a recipe for mass outbreaks even is only 1 person goes into the stadium.

Fall with fans. Coming to light less than flu death rate. I’ll take may chances! Any tickets for sale (at a low price by snowflakes)?

Fall, hopefully with fans.

We need to get back to life as the results of millions of people losing their jobs, millions of businesses closing down will have far greater consequences then people dying at the same rate as a flu!

Why they want to just kick the can down the road, isolate and social distancing, etc... When does it stop? Because delaying it and not having people get immunity to this Coronavirus will let them be more prone to when it returns with another wave later this winter, then what we do, shut down the economy again?

We need to get outside and live

I am far the Fall, with or without fans. TV contracts are the major revenue source. So players taking on line courses at home or from on campus, is the same. Players will have to follow strict protocols in terms of not going out and testing each week will have to be done, someone shows a fever, then quarantine them till we find out if they have COVID-19.

You start this thing in the spring, all the NFL prospects are going to not play, or a significant number of them.

If you do fall without fans, I say go ahead and live-mike the coaches. It would be entertaining to listen to O grunt and growl, Saban bitch and whine, etc.

If you're worried about spies and stealing calls, then alternatively, put mikes on the refs . You'd hear their calls, you'd hear the players talking shite, and you'd get the coach tantrums from that

Spring with fans.

DO you think the LSU team in the fall of 2020 that would play without fans, but on TV, will be the same team in the Spring with fans and TV. My belief is most of the top NFL prospects will sit out a Spring 2021 season, March-May Season with June Championship (Conference plus playoff).

Under that scenario, does anyone think the NFL is going move the Draft till late June, training camps would be beginning in July.

It is different because we are current champs. I'd be fine with the season starting in the Spring Semester (not actual spring). Games start end of January and run through April.

I do think a season with fans is possible if some precautions are taken. Have infrared thermometers at gates, require masks, extra hand washing stations.

I actually think baseball could do this now. Sell 1/3 of stadium (so every 3rd seat would be occupied). Have temperatures taken at gate. Concessions ordered through app and brought to your seat. It seems like there could be a happy medium between total shutdown and licking airplane toilet seats.
