I think the OP is saying what if the players win permanently and the SEC is hogtied on the issue and then Lane decided to release the players anyway. That is definitely NOT what Lane has said

Ole Miss' starting QB is only playing because a court in Mississippi gave him a TRO and the SEC backed down.

This is no different. I'd argue that the NCAA cutting out the 5th year for class of 2022 makes them more sympathetic than a kid playing his 6th season of college football based on a medical redshirt for dubious claims of tonsolitis.

If we win on Thursday, those guys are playing. I would not even conceive of anything otherwise unless the SEC Commissioners vote 15-0 to say Trinidad Chambliss is ineligible.

I'm hoping that is EXACTLY the return on investment LSU and its donors are looking for from their investment of tens of millions of dollars in the program. Throughout history of college football there have been plenty of "Big Bad Wolves". Generally the thing they had in common is they won, at lot, which turned all of the losers against them (see, most recently Alabama during the Saban years).

It is apparently extremely difficult for fans and media alike to comprehend this one simple fact...LSU, nor Kiffin, are parties to this litigation. It is being brought by players challenging the NCAA rules prohibiting their eligibility to play this season.

Now, lets not be naive. LSU and Kiffin are definitely parties interested in the outcome of the litigation because there are some players involved with connections to Kiffin who would choose to play for LSU if legally allowed to do so. It's also no coincidence the action was brought in East Baton Rouge Parish. But LSU is not actively aiming to defy a court order. It is simply interested in the outcome of the legal proceedings and will operate accordingly.

It's the SEC and other conferences who hastily passed a retroactive rule to deny access to the college football market of the players who received the initial favorable court ruling. That is direct collusive activity coming very close, if not crossing the line of anticompetitive behavior..which could bring about antitrust litigation drastically tearing the fabric of the SEC and NCAA as we know it.

As usual, the SEC and NCAA weren't proactive and they have created yet another shite-pile as a results. That is their fault. Not LSU's. But in the end why should LSU or LSU fans give even the slightest of shits what the media, other coaches, and fans of other schools care? NONE would cry the first tear if LSU were losing football games as "likeable losers". But LSU fans sure would.

The league is saying Defy the law to follow our rules or ELSE.
So frick the NCAA. The shite that’s going to come out in the wash will leave them powerless- so they can frick right off.
