2008: Hatch/Lee(f)/Jefferson(f).

Jennings was simply awful in any significant game at LSU. Sure he completed some long TD passes, on a wing and a prayer. But fundamentally his play was flawed. His first TD pass, a winning pass v Arky in relief of Mettenberger, was the exception, not the rule. He mostly sucked at QB.

MJ was one overthrow away from beating Bama and probably staying on this team.

That's kind of what I was thinking, too. I remember that I didn't get to watch almost the whole game and just got score updates. I walked into the house just in time to see us overthrow the last TD attempt to win the game and was absolutely shocked that we had that chance and were just a few inches away from pulling it off. Didn't even know until later that we had missed a similar opportunity just a few minutes earlier.

I forgot (blocked out) how terrible Harris/Jennings was. D1 starting QBs with a 50% completion percentage.

I thjnk they’re fair game

You could win to some extent with Johnson, he just held on to the ball too much. Finley, with a really good O line would have been decent. Problem is we didn't have one and he went to Auburn, who had an even worse line.

He recently transferred to Texas State.

"It's crazy how bad we were during the Miles years on offense. Sometimes I'll go back and watch those games and just marvel at how little we did on offense and yet most of the times it was JUST enough to eek out a win."
We were absolutely mind numbing for so long on offense.

Harris/Jennings was the worst combo I have seen at LSU. There was no hope. It was awful. Maybe some 80s/90s guy sucked more but good lord

Johnson played well statistically and won a few big games.
True. Not many true freshmen QB that are successful.

Jordan Jefferson by himself.

quote:You're right, it was awful playing in a Les Miles offense, I can't believe people are in this thread still dumping on both these guys when they both were ruined by Les Miles. Miles had them playing in some type of offense that nobody knows to this day what the hell kind of offense it was. It was mostly run dominant, with passing only when he had to because opposing teams had stuffed LSU the first 2 downs and had them in 3rd and long. SMH When the ball was snapped on 3rd down, Jennings and Harris was under tremendous pressure from pass rushes of opposing teams and had to get the ball off anyway they could which usually ended up bad. Also, both these kids were really good spread type of offense QBs in highschool that he had lining up under center to take snaps, something they knew nothing about. SMH They both played their LSU careers in the WRONG damn offense, a offense that basically ruined both of them even after they left LSU.

both Harris/Jennings should have been playing in a RPO type of offense or spread offense from day 1 in their LSU careers.

No. Finley is in the Jennings/Harris class of QBs.

Harris had nfl wideouts pretty good o line and leonard in his prime and still stunk.

Pat Lyons and Bobby Moreau, one of Charles McClendon's worst 2 QB rotations he ever had.

No, Jennings never played half as good as Finley in his first two starts
