I can’t understand how or why any LSU FB fan, season ticket holder down to casual, distant observer, would worry about, much less travel to, any matchup with our defense minus ALL of our offensive weapons.

The Spring Game in ‘24 will be more interesting. God Bless anyone not a family member that travels to support the team.

And to think there are some that want a better opponent. LOL. Please realize they are doing LSU a favor

Beat Ole Miss and we’re not discussing this shitey draw. Standard should be, at minimum, a NY6 at LSU.

Well this is the last year of NY6 bowls being a thing. Next year all of the NY6 bowls will be 2nd round playoff games. It’s playoffs or bust from this point forward.

Wisconsin finished tied for 5th in the Big 10
So did the mighty Tigers of LSU University in the SEC!

Wisconsin was in "LSU in 20/21 under Orgeron" bad shape under Cryst.

Takes time to build it back.

I distinctly seem to remember that a large portion of the Rant wanted Luke Fickell to be the new LSU HC.....

Even a decade ago, they did.

15 years ago, getting a good match was a great little consolation prize even if you missed out on the title, with visits to disney for the team, and goodie bags in the stands for fans.

frick where this sport is going.

Update: #13 LSU gets second worst SEC bowl matchup of the season

Are we talking quality of opponent or payout, because we are not taking the second lowest payout.

I could be mistaken but I am pretty sure the bowls select who they want to play in them.

So, we should win the game while getting Nuss and some our younger guys some more experience. Hopefully, we may have some new Defensive coaches by then, who could start to help coach up these players.

Payout is the same regardless.

LSU doesn’t get a cut of the bowl money. After paying travel expenses, the rest goes to the league and it all gets split evenly.

If Bama goes to the title game, LSU gets a cut if that pie.

That’s a good point to make. I was referring to how much the bowl pays out as a function of prestige since there really isn’t a seeded tie in outside of the NY6 type bowls.

All 3 of those opponents are barely ranked and would fall out of the rankings with a loss in the bowl. None of those matchups would provide LSU with an opportunity to prove themselves or make any significant jump in the polls. Playing them would only increase the downside risk. Clemson especially is better than their record. I’d just as soon play an easier opponent and get win number 10 if they aren’t going to draw a Top 15 opponent.

They weren’t gonna put us in the citrus again so we basically traded spots with Tennessee. They play Iowa

You are completely wrong. They matter to the coaches and players more than anything. They matter in the sense of getting 10-15 extra practices and extra game. That matters for development purposes of players going into next year. Teams that don’t get to go bowling, does not get the extra practices. So yea, it matters to the coaches that are trying to get younger players ready to play next year.

You will have players option out and this will give other players opportunities that they didn’t get earlier in the year. There are more important reasons why it matters, than just playing an extra game.

That was kind of my thinking as well. They didn’t want us to repeat in the citrus, but there were more deserving teams in the better bowls.

This matchup stinks for LSU and should be rejected. Sooooo disappointed!!!!!

New Years day playing an unranked team with no chance of improving our ranking.

LSU got sharted by the bowl committee. Here the Tigers are 9-3 (6-2, SEC) and by every measure a better football team than Tennessee (8-4, 4-4). Yet Tenn plays Iowa in the Citrus. Iowa is a much more accomplished team this season than LSU's opponent Wisconsin.

I believe LSU's generations-long practice of poor fan attendance in bowl games has a lot to do with being bumped down in the selection process.

It has more to do with LSU already playing in Orlando twice in the last year.

So yeah, it's related to maximizing attendance, but not because of some notion that LSU fans specifically won't travel.
