It's more a popularity contest that's driven by the media.

If you think this happens you are crazy... IF LF doesn't go pro after next season he is a fool... His stock will NEVER get any higher.. It can only go down..........

McCaffrey only has a better chance because they do more with him. If LF was a little more utilized the race would be more than even.

Can you imagine LF being used the way Stanford uses McCaffrey? It would be ridiculously fun to watch.

Would be willing to be my left one that he is the preseason favorite.

The back who is going to stop Fournette's Heisman quest isn't McCaffrey, it's Guice.

IMO, the Heisman lost its' lusteryears ago when Peyton Manning didn't win it. LF is hands down the best back in the country.

If LF was a little more utilized the rant would bitch because Miles is clueless and wearing him out/risking injury needlessly/whatever other dumbass thing they can come up with.

Frick the Heisman. It's a joke. Not really based on the best individual player as was evident this year.

This. And Stanford has to replace their 4 yr starter QB. Don't discount that...

Well Boykin was the preseason favorite this past year so how did that work out for him? So Fournette chances are just as good or better than McCaffrey's.

False. Stanford had 4 seniors on their offensive line, and will have to completely re-tool on that front. No shot he has a season like the one he had this year.

I think LF7 has a good chance, not slim. McCaffrey looked great against a hot garbage Iowa team that had no business being in the Rose Bowl.

LF could have a worse statistical season next year, but if LSU makes it to the playoffs he will win the award. Conversely, he could have a better statistical season next year, but if LSU is 9-3 he doesn't get invited to NYC.

Never underestimate the laziness of Heisman voters. They generally just vote for the best player on the best team. Do you really think Henry was the best player in the country? Hell, you could argue that he wasn't even the best RB in his conference. Whoever wins the SEC will have a Heisman finalist. That's just how this thing works. McCaffery is a great player. But he's has little chance to win if Stanford isn't at the top of the Pac 12

Team success has quite a bit of influence on who wins. It's early but I like LF7's chances next year. No doubt he'll be in the conversation.

Anything can happen. Maybe McCaffery has a down year next year with the loss of a lot of seniors. Maybe Leonard runs for 200 against Bama. That's why they play the games.

Problem is that LF7 did it on a Tuesday night in the Texas Bowl. McCaffrey broke a Rose Bowl record for yards in a game. No question LF7 is the better back but I think going in that McCaffery has the lead going in to next year, especially since he was a finalist this season. LF7 will have to have more yards than McCaffery and a big game against Bama to win.
