Will Saban take the field for the 25 year anniversary of 2003 championship?

Just saw that the 2001 SEC championship team was honored on field this past weekend, obviously without coach. I could see how that would’ve been great to see, but wouldn’t necessarily call for something that monumental.

25 year anniversary of the first national championship in 45 years, for a historically successful program which had just clawed back to relevance is a completely different ballgame however.

I feel like it is nearly a guarantee, and many players from that team will absolutely be pushing for it. It’s still unreal how his image has shifted within the hearts and minds of our fanbase in such a short period.

i guess that would depend on if he’s still doing Gameday and where that show is filming when that comes around.

I think it’s more that it’s easier to hate him when he’s beating us every year, but now we don’t have to worry about that.

He’ll probably be there, and obviously we need to credit the guy for bringing LSU into the limelight, but have you forgotten he cost LSU at least 2 championships, possibly more? He’s easier to revere now that he’s not at Bama anymore, but he’s the sole reason we don’t have 5 championships since 2003.

He is also directly responsible for LSU losing the 2011 natty, so that is a net gain of zero national championships on his part. Do you also want him to attend LSU’s 2011 SEC championship reunion too?

Without Nick coming here in 2000, LSU doesn't have 3 Nattys. Also Saban didn't tell Les Miles to run that dumb arse offensive game plan in 2011 and for years after.

It just sucks LSU could have more Nattys if it wasn't for Saban being at Bama, but who knows if we win them. Yes, 2011 should have been ours. Saban has done 10x more to help LSU, than he has to hurt.

He will be back in 2028 and will be welcomed.

I would be okay with it. And I would give him a standing ovation. I would not have said that 10 years ago.

This is ridiculous. LSU doesn’t have nearly the prestige, recognition, 2007 and 2019 national championships if Emmert didn’t hire Saban in December 1999. LSU won a total of 7 games the 2 seasons prior to Saban and had 6 losing seasons in the previous 9 years.

I say this all the time, Saban cost LSU more championships than he won us. LSU did more good for him than he did for LSU and I'll die on that hill!

The same one he beat Saban with 2 years in a row and the greatest season run to the national championship?

What a retarded arse statement. We don’t win jack shite these last 25 years without that man. He also helped the saints get a Super Bowl by passing on Brees. I’d say in the end it worked out for all parties involved.

If he takes Brees he likely never makes it to Alabama.

You may want to stop saying it. There is a reason LSU went 45 years without a national championship until 2003. And as stated, LSU had 6 losing seasons in 9 years with the 2 coaches prior to Saban. We’re not even in the discussion for national championships if he didn’t change the culture and the expectations. People used to be happy with the Independence Bowl and maybe the occasional Sugar Bowl, when we weren’t finishing with losing records.

Prob not but im not going to complain about my two favorite teams winning multiple nattys and sec titles and a Super Bowl.

Growing up in the 90s I never thought I would see anything close to that.

1999 was awful. After the 2000 UAB game first caller said pay saban whatever and let’s get a real coach…. I wish I knew where that caller is today.

Ridiculous. Nick Saban is THE REASON we are where we are today. With the amazing talent in the state, we were always a sleeping giant, waiting on that coach who would be the one to harness it.

It is indisputable that he laid the foundation that allows us to enjoy the stature we have today.

Like Andy Defresne said, get busy livin or get busy dyin. You might want to get off that hill.

It was easy to hate the guy when he was at Bama, but you can't tell the story of Modern-Era LSU Football without Nick Saban. Will he show up? Probably depends on Gameday's schedule and location that day. Should he be invited? 100% I think it would be more of an argument to not invite him if he left LSU like Kiffin did Ole Miss, but he left for an NFL job. He didn't leave LSU with the idea of going directly to Alabama.

Probably posting in this thread saying that Saban hurt us more than he helped us.
