Also, if true- literally the only hotels in Laplace back then were the Millet Motel and Troxie’s.

The football team had a contract with the hotel LSU owns?

As other said, probably wants them off campus

It always struck me as odd when we stayed at Lod Cook and the players would be riding the elevators with us to get to their rooms.

Subtle I stay at Lod Cook for a lot of home games brag.

Is this a summer thing? Didn't know the athletic dorms closed.

Football teams do not stay in their dorms/apartments/houses the night before a game. Would kinda make bed checks at curfew difficult.

Lod Cook does not need that contract and probably does not want it. They can charge top rates and sell out on game weekends anyway.

when did the players stay at the Cook hotel?

They've been staying at Lod Cook since Saban was the coach. I'm in the Alumni Tiger Band and when we stayed in Lod Cook on Friday night before the Alumni Band game on Saturday, the players were all over the hotel, going and coming to meetings and other team activities.

I was coming to post this. My uncle and I would go eat at Mike Anderson's on Friday nights before games and the team would most definitely be there.

Ive never stayed at Lod Cook, but ive often stayed on the top two floors of the Baton Rouge Marriott when im in town for home games, and the other rooms are usually occupied by whatever visiting team we’re playing . #humblebrag

Thank you. I thought when I went to school the team stayed at the dorms, but the team kinda sucked then too, so...

Seems like you can require the team to be in the dorms the first 2-3 years which would make bed checks easier. Bed checks shouldn't really be more than a call to a landline at each room. Sad they would have to be treated like they are in middle school.

The rooms at cook aren't actually very nice. Pretty Hampton Inn-ish.

Not saying this is the reason though.

I think it’s good

I stayed there a lot the last few years, and while I liked meeting players, coaches etc, It was annoying to go check in and be told that I couldn’t go to my room until after the game because players hadn’t checked out. It was a big inconvenience so I started staying elsewhere
