This happens in every single dynasty in sports. Hell even CEOs. Everyone hates the Chiefs. The NFL has a script the Chiefs win. Everyone hated Bama. Everyone hated the Pats. Everyone hated Golden State in 2016. Everyone hates Mark Zuckerberg, Jeff Bezos, Elon (besides some conservatives), Larry Ellison.
Most hatred in the world stems from jealousy. Not all, but most. An example of not being jealousy was my former boss. He was such a pompous prick. If you weren't wearing the nicest suits and Allen Edmonds, he judged you. If you put a logo 1 pixel offcentered he'd get pissed. Meanwhile he didn't actually do any work himself. Just listened to stock podcasts and judge others. Would easily, no doubt in my opinion, throw his Dad under a bus, if it meant a title CFO or CEO. Made my female coworker balling cry on 3 different occasions. Just an utter POS.

They are a national seed this year. They are far from a Cinderella team. And I can’t imagine that this storyline would make someone who otherwise wouldn’t watch this game tune in, but what do I know?

You do realize that most of America doesn't give a fudge about college baseball. The media is doing what they can to boost nterest.

The media is down to their last feel good story to hype to the masses - C.C.
LSU already dispatched Little Rock and now LSU has continued / extended our success against Arkansas - the Tigers prevented DVH from winning his 1st title.
Murray St was knocked out.
CC is the sole remaining David battling Goliath.
The media and ESPN rarely pump the underlings against other sports juggernauts (Bama / OSU / Michigan / ND fb, Duke / NC / Kansas BB etc.), but they will point and laugh and milk the news cycle when David knocks out Goliath (Vandy/Bama)
