re: Pebble/Spyglass
Posted by Golfanatic on 11/10/25 at 8:45 pm to YieldDawg
Pebble is my choice, first time was in awe of the scenery/history. The second time golf mattered more. Nothing against Spyglass or Spanish Bay, both excellent tracts. I favor Spyglass between these two.

Propofol is the drug of choice. Most often fentanyl is not required.
re: Dental Surgery Sedation vs anesthesia
Posted by Golfanatic on 9/26/25 at 10:48 pm to CrimsonTideMD
I would suggest you make certain any of these drugs are administered by a licensed anesthesia provider. Most significant complication during dental anesthesia are airway in origin. Too shallow breathing or obstructed airways are not uncommon but handled routinely by trained anesthesia providers.

Played this weekend, 2 rounds. Greens were in decent shape, so were fairways and bunkers. Rough was a different story. Some was cut with dead/cut grass piled up and some was not cut. Maybe an equipment problem. Not cut was tall enough to lose balls not far off of fairway. Overall not a bad experience, stay out of rough and all is good!
re: What is a job that pays extremely well but no one realizes it?
Posted by Golfanatic on 9/1/25 at 9:04 pm to Sponge
I agree with those stats. Once you figure in the CRNAs that work day surgery/ surgical centers 4.5 days a week, no call, no weekends or holidays. As compared to those that work all shifts, holidays or call and do labor epidurals without anesthesiologists involved. The latter group is where the money is made. $250-300k is not uncommon.

re: The real reason people are upset about Medicaid Work Requirements
Posted by Golfanatic on 5/28/25 at 10:01 pm to BeepBopBoop
I believe it is less than .50 on the dollar, more in the .25 to .30 range. Medicaid payment does not cover the cost of medical services for hospitals. Many providers refuse Medicaid patients because payments are so low.
re: Constant ear ringing. Anyone had success with home remedies or an ENT doctor visit?

I’ve had tinnitus as long as I can remember. Also have tinnitus “spikes” - tinnitus is louder and the actual sound changes. Usually doesn’t last very long, few days to a week. All seems normal to me. I have noticed that wearing my hearing aids seems to reduce the noise, once off the noise returns.
re: How hard is it to re grip your own clubs?
Posted by Golfanatic on 4/1/25 at 9:00 am to CBandits82
Great replies. My only offer, for the first time have one or two extra grips. As with other skills you’ll get better as you do more. My golf group changes grips together, each has a specific job; remove grip, remove tape and old glue, new tape, etc.
re: Home putting green... where to buy ultradwarf bermuda sprigs or seeds
Posted by Golfanatic on 2/26/25 at 10:56 pm to Bawpaw
I have a TifEagle Bermuda home green approximately 1500 sq ft. Purchased sprigs from Bayou Bend Nursery in Bastrop 20 years ago this past June. On second McClane’s walk behind greens mower.

Very good condition. They have been watering a lot but fairways still roll. Very little heat stress on greens. Chairman’s cup was last week. Notah Begay Championship coming up early November.

re: Do you ever regret your career choice?
Posted by Golfanatic on 2/27/24 at 8:56 pm to Raging Tiger
I did 37 years ago. Certainly enjoy my career. Recently scaled down to 2 days a week; no call or weekends. Good stuff.
re: PGA Tour Season Long Thread
Posted by Golfanatic on 1/9/24 at 8:48 am to makersmark1
Agree and Tiger will likely need a relatively flat course. Walking 4 days seems puts a lot of stress on the leg injured in the auto crash. Of course, I’d like to see him on the leaderboard.

Agree with staying away from dark colors. We did a green that was a really nice match with bricks and such but was a little too dark. Didn’t have a problem with summer of ‘22 but had noticeable warping during this past summer.

64 rounds in 2023. Promise to do better in 2024.
re: New LDL cholesterol treatment
Posted by Golfanatic on 11/16/23 at 7:50 pm to lsupride87
My experience with HDL, LDL and Triglycerides also involve having a stent at 52. Mostly genetics but total cholesterol was normal; LDL (bad) was borderline high. HDL (good) was borderline low and Triglycerides were in the midrange. These are reported on a lipid profile and also calculated as cardiac ratio/index, a ratio between the three. This is the number we chose to focus on, mine was 5.2. Normal is about 5 to 3. Crestor 10mg to help lower LDL and get a bump up on the HDL. Exercising will also push HDL up. Zetia 10mg (works in the gut) to lower LDL. Changed my diet (less booze) to take Triglycerides down. I’m 66 now cardiac ratio stays around 2.5 and am very active. Lost my Dad and a brother in their early 50’s to heart attacks. Don’t smoke either. It can be done and there are different ways to it but it takes the commitment between you and your medical provider.
