I get your criticism and I know you are very knowledgeable in baseball. The bottom line is they 100% devalue height and size. His fielding is incredible everyone agrees with this so let’s get it out of the way.
His base running is lazy as shite. That’s a fact. He will not run to try and beat out a play. If he thinks he’s cooked he gives up. I’m not saying he isn’t fast because he has decent wheels. However he doesn’t push to beat plays he thinks he’s beat in.
His bat skills are feast or famine and that’s not him. Eye high liners for doubles and singles in the gap are his only chance at making the bigs.
So you can think what you want and argue however you want but you know as well as me that size matters in the mlb to the people that offer chances and contracts. He is small with an elite glove but that’s not enough. He better become Henderson stealing bases or Vladdy hitting for average if he plans on making it to the bigs. That’s just facts.

Milam's potential
Defense = MLB
Offense= A Ball
Perks= he does have a clutch X factor at the plate.
Take it for what you will but this is what mlb teams are going to project.

Maybe play in Japan. How much is the signing bonus for 10rd drafts.

He gonna play for an mlb organization. If they can elevate his bat, he can do well one day.
Tbh, I know to the untrained eye, some may not see little things like this but he does foul off alot of balls at lsu. Im curious to see when he does go pro, what his at bats will look like with a 'wood bat". Balls grab wood alot better, maybe less foul balls and more hits? Crazy but you never really know until you know. He could be close and that might be all he needs for a team to offer him enough to leave and actually be successful.

Hitting for power with wood will be the biggest question he faces.
Why do you think that is? Are guys his size typically hitting for power with wooden bats? Is Altuve a common prototypical player or more of an outlier? Is it easier on average for guys 6-8 inches taller that Milam and 200 lbs to generate more power than Milam? Put Milam’s skill set in 6’1” 200lbs and what do his power numbers look like?

Milam makes Mike Fontenot look big

Well then, if that is true he is a shoo-in.

Second baseman are a dime a dozen in the pros. Every Milam style guy is auto moved to second. Will all come down to hitting and baserunning.

Reminds me of Altuve at Houston. Short but tremendous bat control and defense at 2B.

That’s because of their size. Altuve was a way better overall athlete. Originally he could really run and was a top threat stealing bases. Milam was never a top stealing threat at LSU.
Both guys do have some pop for their size and both hit for average.

I think he could be a bench/utility guy.

I hope you are right and I am completely wrong.

Me too, LOL, but I think that is his best path. We, as fans, get caught up with LSU guys, but there are 100 Milam's in the minors.

Altuve had more power that transitioned to wood bats. He was also faster and had better steal reaction time. Think he swiped more bases than anyone before all star break one season.

Milam is gonna be drafted in rounds 11-20 where they can lowball him and it doesn’t effect the teams bonus pool if he doesn’t sign. At that point it’s gonna come down to a bidding war between the mlb team and NIL. I think the max offer he’ll get from MLB is 500k, and unless a team falls in love with him I think it’s probably gonna closer to 300k. He’s got the best infield glove in the college game but he’s short, average speed, doesn’t have the power to make up for it, and he starts slow at the plate every year. Unfortunately that’s just not that valuable in the pro game, where the game has turned into power pitchers vs power hitters.
He would have had a better shot at it 15-20 years ago
