That's not some new thing. I've seen a smaller band in some away games for years.

Money and more tickets for fans. No school brings the whole band on every road trip anymore.

It's not that the expense of bringing the band members was too great.... It's that so much more money could be made with the ticket sales/TAF donations

No LSU fans there in Gainesville was compensated for by little or no sound from the Golden Band of Tigerland.

Maybe you couldn't hear them because the swamp monkeys intentionally piped in Tom Petty music at the exact moment that the Tiger Band started doing their thing?

But every SEC school brings their whole band to at least one SEC road game.

LSU is the lone SEC school to not bring the full band to at least one away game. (Which is totally unacceptable and disappointing) It's disappointing, but certainly not surprising.

It's not surprising at all coming from the current regime of dysfunctional and negligent buffoons that have offices in the "Taj Mahal" located just west of the new Winecheese Tackytiger Stadium.

The same TackyTiger Stadium that's being totally desecrated with wretched excess permanent ads.

I don't have a problem with digital video advertising that scrolls on and off the video boards, but the permanent stuff is beyond cheap and tacky.

Because LSU is really cheap and doesn’t want to spend money on the band when they don’t have to. It really is a disgrace that the whole band doesn’t travel to away games anymore. The small pep bands are a joke. You can hardly hear them

I don’t know know why but I will recklessly speculate it’s because alleva wanted to squeeze more money out of fans.

Why do people worry so much about the band at a football game?

The neutral site games have replaced the full band trips, which is very sad. I’m not sure if LSU is the ONLY SEC school not to bring their full band on at least one road trip, but I know that most other schools do. Bama and Auburn seem to always bring their full bands to Baton Rouge. I can’t recall the last time be took the full band to a road game other than Ole Miss or Moo State. We don’t even do that anymore.

When I was in TB in 1990 we had full band trips to Tuscaloosa for Bama and Jackson for Moo State in back to back weeks at the end of the season

Every seat used by the band comes out of the allotment given to LSU therefore LSU/the band have to pay for those seats. Smaller band = more tickets available to sell. Schools are on the hook for the allotment of tickets for away games.

Bama and Auburn have not brought their full band to Tiger Stadium in years. Only SEC team that brought the full band in about 5 years has been Texas A&M. Normally most bands only go on one full band trip. For LSU, it has been the first neutral site game. And no, the band is not smaller, but larger than it was back in the 90s. We only had 280 back then, now it is 325 and they will be back to full size this year. I think they were like 15 short last year. Even back in the 90s, we only went to one full away game each year and it was either Auburn, Bama or Ole Miss.

Incorrect. While Auburn did not bring their full band to Baton Rouge last season, they have for every other visit in recent memory. Same goes for Bama. Auburn’s full band always goes to Tuscaloosa and to Athens as well. Of course, it’s a lot closer for schools like Bama, Auburn, and UGA to travel to each other’s respective campuses than for LSU to send the full band to any of them.

UGA’s full band traveled to 4 road games last season. Granted that 2 of those were in Atlanta, but they also went to Notre Dame and the Rose Bowl. If that were LSU, do you see us sending Tiger Band to all of those?

Wrong.....The band has been under its 325 mark for the last few years. I was talking to a staff member from a few years ago and was told the "numbers" issue is a much bigger deal than it looks from the outside. As recent as 2015, the band was CUTTING close to 100 in order to get down to their limit of 325. If they were down 15-20 last year, they are really down 115-120 (according to a former staff member).

They always limit it to 325 members total. It is too expensive for them to bring the entire band to every away game.

It must be awesome to be as smart as you. the only problem with your " superiority" is that you obviously hate LSU football. that is obvious from your posts, not just this gem of bunk. I can't figure out why in the hell you even post here.

if you are smart enough to be objective you should sit down and do some research and begin to follow some other team; one that is run by functional, highly intelligent people and one that has a perfect stadium. it would seem to me you could then find a team you would be happy with and greatly lower the unhappiness you now suffer from. AND, as a bonus it would make us happy too; kind of an "addition by subtraction" thing. you hold the power to make everybody happy. just do it man.

This is incorrect. TB member from 2010-2014. Each year, we had 325 and there were dozens of cuts those years. The target number has always been 325. Last year for whatever reason (be it the Roy King drama or something else) the number was 285. They'll probably have it back to 325 this year.

As far as traveling, a 110 member pep band travels to all the away games. Normally, there is a full band trip to one SEC school. In 2012, the full band traveled to Auburn because there was no "kickoff game" that season. The full band trips most of the last decade (other than bowl games and SECCG) have been the neutral site openers.

I did not say they were aiming or intended to have less than 325, I was pointing out they have not had 325 for the last few years (it was less than 285 two years ago as well).

I tend to think it is "something else." I'm not sure the current staff can compare in any way to Wickes, Moorhouse or King.
