Why does the band get so much coverage on here?

With O and Alleva having everyone's blood boiling about the current state of the football program, you'd think the band would be the least of everyone's worries. You'd be mistaken though. We have people on here discussing when they play, how loud they play, what they play, etc. Back in my day, the band was for the losers, and no one paid much mind to what they were up to. What gives ?

because the band is a large part of the college game experience, and their role has been reduced over the years in favor of horrible piped-in music.

Band works their asses off as much as the football team does practicing and doing games. I've never considered them losers, in fact there's something special when they do that turn and start hold that tiger. TGBFTL will always have my respect.

I agree the piped in crap is just that, crap. There is a sure-fire way LSU fans could put an end to it. EVERY time they fire up the piped in music, if the fans all began to chant "Joe Alleva SUCKS" as loud as they can, betcha it wouldn't take long before the piped in music got canned.

Any college football program worth a lick holds their band in high regard and holds them to a similar standard to the football team. If you're representing LSU I will support you forever, but I expect excellence.

High school marching band was a lot of work. I can't even imagine how many hours they put in to that many moves in front of 100,000 people making it look and sound good. Those kids are absolutely incredible at what they do.

I've never heard anyone say anything remotely like the band was for losers. Love the band. I always wonder how they don't pass out in those uniforms in the heat.
