I would hate to be in power at LSU right now. I honestly don’t know who I would hire if I could hand pick. What makes it worse is you can’t frick this up!

LSU could actually do a thorough search with potential coordinators and up and coming head coaches, but they always take the easiest route it seems. They hire from within or just throw money at a big name hire.

The biggest problem with Kiffin right now is that he’s such a hot commodity, he’s going get salary he hasn’t earned yet and he’ll be able to demand Jimbo and BK like buyouts.

So if it doesn’t work, whoever hires him risks a ton. At some point, boosters are going to stop footing the bill when they get no return on their investment

I’d like to see us go after Dillingham, but it’s going to take a Brinks truckload of cash to pull him out of Arizona!

This, exactly. Regardless of how likely he is to bring multiple national championships to any program, he's going to get paid like he already has. If Ole Miss doesn't give him a contract better than Woodward gave BK, then Florida, Auburn, UCLA, Penn State, us, or someone else will. We are simply past the point of coaches being paid what they have accomplished; the modern market is set at paying coaches for what they might accomplish. Or, more specifically, what the boosters at the school with the most money think they might accomplish.

How much did OM beat Arky by this year? I guess Berry should've just went ahead and scored.

Casual fans want offensive minds. Look at the love Lincoln Riley got last coaching cycle. I also think the youngsters like Lane Kiffin’s needling other coaches on Twitter. And maybe his daughters. And the Joey Freshwater thing. He’s a character in a sea of coaches that are dull

And it’s not that hard to win games at Ole Miss. Hugh Freeze did it.

His ability to get good qbs and has an excellent scheme on offense. End of story.

Exactly right, Joey....look at the SEC National Champions of the last 15 years....all led by defensive coaches....Saban, Kirby, Orgeron...why does LSU want Kiffin over Schumann?...especially watching another overrated offensive coach fail when it counts in the SEC in Brian Kelly?

I wasn’t a fan of his but you can’t deny that he is an efficient offensive mind.

He cultivated Jaxon Dart to be a very good player and he’s doing amazing things with Trinidad Chambliss, who was in D2 last year.

Sometimes I question his decisions but that goes with any coach.

I’d definitely take him at LSU.

I will get banned for saying this.....but still will.

Kiffin is a superb manipulator of the NIL and transfer portal system. He does it better than everyone. That is why he has been so successful at Ole Miss and he will also be at Florida.

People keep bringing up salary and buyouts as if the are paying for it. Money has never been an issue at LSU. They always figure it out.

The athletic director at LSU was literally told go out and find the best coach. Do not worry about money.

In seven seasons as an SEC HC, he has yet to win an SEC championship or even play in the SEC championship game.

In the last 7 years, there are 3 schools that have won an SEC championship - Georgia, Alabama, and LSU. Add in Florida and Auburn, and you have all the schools with an SEC championship since 2000.

The appeal is he is being fairly successful at a school that isn't typically successful.

Correction. Six seasons, not seven. At an SEC doormat. And still in the hunt for the SEC title this year.

Context is important here. That was a win worth celebrating considering LSU’s disappointing circumstances this year.

You could leave Frank Wilson in as HC and surround him with the best asst coaches . A HC is sort of an organizer , CEO . He doesn’t have to be world expert at every facet of the game , just recognize solid football and get along with the staff and have everybody pulling in the same direction .

I agree . Remember when Elko’s name was mentioned as a HC ? The Rant was very dismissive of the idea . Elko is capable of winning .

Well … Frank wasn’t exactly handed a bowl of cherries … He got the win with a backup QB and played kids sitting on the bench . Kelly was saving them ( like mommas fine china ). Kids played hard for Frank , say what you want .
