re: Why do non-LSU fans love coach O so much

They love O like we do, but didn’t pay enough attention to see his flaws and the collapse after the 19 NC...... We would have all loved if 19 was the beginning of a dynasty, rather than a collapse. What I can’t figure out was 19 just lucky lightning, or did O loose focus after his success. ....probably both

Are you talking about as a coach or as a person? As a person he’s a funny, personable guy. Most people that aren’t LSU fans have no reason not to like him.

I get it a lot that LSU is crazy for firing O and that it’s insane that he’s not somewhere coaching now. It’s a very common opinion for everyone outside of the LSU fan base.
He’s not coaching right now by choice. He’s getting paid millions. He could easily be a D-Line coach or recruiting coordinator at a P5 school if he wanted to.

I don’t understand that. I’ve never had someone say we are crazy for firing O. They make fun of O cause he’s a dumb ogre

Correct. Anyone who thinks he had NOTHING to do with '19 is basically as stupid as thinking it was all due to his genius.
I'm glad it happened and am willing to credit him for some of it.
I'm glad he's now prowling directional school sidelines during weekly games with his skank of the week.

About the only people who wish O was still here are other SEC West programs. They know we’re loaded now with CBK.

Just show them the roster for our last bowl game

Same reason non Astros fans love dusty baker.

No. I live in the Atlanta area. I've never heard anyone say LSU made a mistake firing Orgeron.

These are more of the casual fans that actually don’t really follow the sport close enough to understand why.
You answered your own question. I’ve heard this from a few people too but there all people who barely watch any sports at all.

Maybe they are able to think and make judgements objectively?
Posted on 11/11/22 at 9:54 am to turnpiketiger
There's actually truth to this. Most non-LSU fans hate BK and love Coach 0. I travel a good bit and have found this to be the case as well. It's strange.

Only coach I know is Kelly

Living in Virginia, several of my work acquaintances absolutely loved Coach O because of his big personality and unique voice. They would text me anytime he was being interviewed on TV.

Exactly, what’s so hard to comprehend? Love O as an entertainer and being the coach for that 2019 season but glad they moved on. He gave that 2019 team that edge, whether he was the greatest coach or not, the team had the “swag” like no other and that was more so due to O’s demeanor. 2018, same.

I travel quite a bit for work and believe it or not they dont. They are miffed about the firing. It's amazing how many times I get "man I loved that guy".
My guess is they just see the natty and didnt realize how bad he had dropped off.

Dude most people besides this board like Coach O.
He flamed out yes but he is a fun character, recruited great and helped win a fiesta bowl/NC.

Yeah. Ive never understood this board being so adamant that coach O had nothing to do with us winning a title. Hopefully that will change now that he is gone and they can give him his due.

You’re mistaking this with Coach O being a meme for barstool sports
The ‘bros’ love him and the image he portrays… LSU fans, not so much
Basically what I’m saying is that retards on social media eat up the game he’s playing (either willingly or unwillingly) but you’re confusing that for ‘love’

frick it all. O won us a title. Can’t take that from him.
O is a real novelty to the rest of the country. Big, loud, Cajun, polite when it counts, respectful to others mostly, especially in interviews he handled himself well.
I talk so damn redneck when I’m anywhere but the South people can’t get enough of my shite. They get mesmerized by my voice and probably take me for the rednck fool I am. More so ladies apparently who’ve only heard “us” on Andy Griffith.
