Why is BTE the official band of LSU football?
I guess you had to be at Bonne Fete 1999 to appreciate what they mean to the city, LSU students, and area in general.
They are getting dated to the younger generations but still very popular among us 35-55 yr olds in South La and LSU alumni in particular.

Tab Benoit is playing at the Bedford Blues & BBQ Festival. I'd go to that instead.

Formation and early success Better Than Ezra was formed in 1988[4] by its four original members – vocalist and guitarist, Kevin Griffin; lead guitarist, Joel Rundell; bassist, Tom Drummond; and drummer, Cary Bonnecaze.[4] All four members were attending Louisiana State University at the time of Better Than Ezra's formation.[4] Better Than Ezra's first public performance was at Murphy's in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, also in 1988.[5] Though many theories abound, the band refuses to disclose the origin of its name.[5] One theory is that it comes from a line in Ernest Hemingway's memoir A Moveable Feast, in which Hemingway describes a particularly annoying sound as "...no worse than other noises, certainly better than Ezra learning to play the bassoon." Drummond once told a reporter that the meaning of the band’s name is “so lame you wouldn’t even want to print it.” It has also been said that the name came into being when the then nameless band entered a battle of the bands in competition with a group named Ezra. Needing a name to register they simply said that they were better.[6] Fans of the group often refer to themselves as Ezralites. Better Than Ezra circulated a demo cassette tape later in 1988, the Chimes Street Demo. While not an official release, this demo is sought-after by the band's fans, and traded by collectors. In 1990 the band released a cassette-only album, Surprise. Joel Rundell, the band's lead guitarist, died by suicide on August 8, 1990.[4] The remaining three members of the band took some time off to reassess its future following Rundell's death.[4] However, Griffin, Drummond and Bonnecaze reunited Better Than Ezra as a trio by the end of 1990.[4] The trio continued playing house parties and fraternity shows across southern United States during the early 1990s. The band released its first nationally distributed album Deluxe in 1993 on its own indie label,[7] Swell Records, which caught the attention of major record labels and radio. Better Than Ezra signed with Elektra Records in 1995.[7] Elektra Records rereleased Deluxe in 1995 and the single, "Good", reached the No. 1 position on the Hot Modern Rock Tracks chart which helped push the album to platinum record status by the end of 1995.[8] Success came quickly to Better Than Ezra. Tom Drummond commented later in a 1998 interview with CNN, "It took us seven years to get signed, and then seven weeks to get to No. 1." when describing the overnight success of Deluxe and its single "Good.

LSU football appeals to a lot of Chads. BTE is Chad music. Pretty simple. I guess there was a time circa 1995 or so when they didn't such massive amounts of dicks, but I was like 7 or 8 then so I dunno.

They're a pretty generic sounding band so they appeal to a general audience of polo & khaki short wearing crackers.

I believe that is a brand new venue. It think I read that it officially opens this week. Several restaurants and bars within one big facility. I will be there, may not stay for the whole show. Would like to see some other near-by places too.
