I suspect our target will be someone who is in the tournament, so it will drag on enough for people to get hopeful it's Wade. Time will tell.

Agreed. As long as a certain person from SWLA is on the BOS, Wade is the target. As mentioned above his buyout drops $2MM on April 1, 2026, so don't think we'll have a coach until Final Four weekend.

So, it’s about left tackle money? right?

It’s doable.

I was at the syracluse/nc st game on Tuesday night. The atmosphere was NOWHERE NEAR what we have at the PMAC when we're rolling.

Take this for what you will, but it's TRUE. I was on top of the tunnel when the team jogged out, and then Wade walked out. I called his name out and pointed to my LSU hat. He gave me a quick smile and kept going. Without question, that smile was a DIRECT reaction (but was it positive or negative?) to the hat.

For the mouth breathers, if I had a UCLA hat on, I'm sure it would've gotten zero reaction from him.

Like it or not, Wade will be the initial target. There is too much political and financial support for him not to be. The admin, led by the former McNeese President, will not be an impediment to LSU pursuing him as it was last year. I don't think LSU will offer to pay a (relatively speaking) Kiffin-like amount for him. But they will make a very competitive offer. It will be up to him to decide if he wants to return.

Beyond that there won't be a consensus target. You will hear names such as Chris Beard and Scott Drew. Both would be very costly to hire. Ole Miss is paying Beard north of $5M (annually) and it would cost LSU a $4.5M buyout to hire him. Assuming LSU would have to exceed what he his being paid at OM, I don't see LSU being willing to pay over $10M to get him. The same applies to Scott Drew...who turned down Kentucky last year.

After that, LSU probably looks to the mid-major ranks. Some who don't really follow basketball as a whole will be angry about that, but that is common place in the market. LSU is going to look at a mid-major coach they didn't hire (Golden at Florida) and one they could have hired last year (McMillian at A&M) to see if they can find their next Golden, Oats, Byington, etc.

Who that guy will be? Don't know. But if I had to bet I'd say you'll probably hear these names: Josh Schertz (St. Louis); Jerrod Calhoun (Utah St); Eric Olen (New Mexico)

Selfishly I want Schertz to stay at SLU and for LSU to find a different good coach.

Most of those people are gone now. If Wade wanted to come back, the door is cracked.

The call list should go as follows:

For the record I think all say no but the 3 names you have to call are

1 Wade
2 mick Cronin
3 Eric musselman

Cronin has been very vocal about hating the big ten and the cross country travel.

Musselman I’m sure feels the same but is not in the same boat with gravitas at his current position

These are the only 3 established names that I think there is the slightest chance to say yes.

You just know it’s killing Cronin at UCLA. I think he’d be happy to leave if you pay him fair.

Didn't say that buttfluck.

He could've been saying to himself: "Look at this dork. I ain't never going back to LSU". Or he may be considering it.

I'm just glad that we have people in charge now that seem to want to give it a shot and have a POSITIVE relationship with Wade, and not a loser like you making decisions.

Thinking Wade would take a step down from nc state to come back to lsu is preposterous lol

LSU is currently a better basketball job than NC State. NC State's NIL has been a mess this year as well as the publicly known branding issues that Wade has dealt with. CMM currently makes more than Will Wade, Wade would get around 4-5 million here if he came to LSU. LSU's practice facilities are better as well, NC State has one small court for their practice facility, that's it. There isn't even enough room for them to have 2 full courts side by side.

He just got an extension and raise at UCLA. It would be expensive to get him. Plus, Cincinnati, his home, alma mater, and former employer, is about to fire their HC. LSU is a bigger brand, but when Cronin left UC was in the AAC and he was leaving for the Pac 12 and one of the most prestigious names in the sport. Now UC is in the Big 12 and would welcome him back with open arms. Would he go home?

He was already in the SEC and got out as soon as things got bad. Plus, I think he preferred to get back to CA. Finally, he hasn't exactly lit the world on fire at USC. They had a losing record last season and he currently has a losing record again in Big 10 play.

bring in someone to implement the 40 minutes of Hell that Ark used to run. aggressive full court pressure the whole game. then run run run every chance you get. rotate about 10-12 a game and wear the other team out.
