One that I wished we would have got was Joey Brown from Morgan City. He was a 4 year starter at Georgetown, 90-94, who averaged about 10 points and 6 assists a game. We had some studs when he was coming out though with Chris Jackson and Mo Williamson.

Brown was a very solid college PG. Good defender too.

Big Ben is the one that came to mind for me. I’m not considering anyone who played before Dale established the program because there were other much better options for those guys. Benjamin was during some of Dale’s best years and it hurt to see him go to Creighton.

Parish wanted to play immediately. Little known fact he strongly considered Northeast in Monroe. Centenary said screw the NCAA and played him knowing they would be sanctioned and that none of Robert’s statistics would be officially recorded with the NCAA.

Read up on him. Tim Floyd at UNO stumbled upon him in grocery store in BR. I'm not sure he had all that significant h.s. career. He had a late growth spurt ad grew like 8 inches after h.s. and grew to 6'10 or 6'11.
Floyd developed him entirely.. .turned him into an NBA pick

It’s Ervin and he was working at a grocery store in BR when a friend told him to go tryout. He went to the tryout for UNO and Floyd offered him on the spot so he wouldn’t go anywhere else. The story goes even after he was signed he gave the A&P two weeks notice and finished his shifts before leaving for NOLA.

Here we go again.
Will Wade, can we please get a return of these uniforms?

Those are great. I also wouldn't mind a return to the script lettering with the stars like in the Scales/ Hi C/Rudy days.

Michael Jordan is the easiest answer ever.

Was that really a miss? I remember Dale trying to get him, but the political climate of the USSR at that time was never going to allow that. If it had been maybe 7 years later it likely happens. Younger people will never truly realize how good Sabonis was when he was young before the knee injuries and before the NBA

These and the 1978-81 era “Louisiana State” uniforms need to be in the rotation

Don’t forget about Dwayne Bryant from DeLa Salle in Nola. He started over 100 games for Georgetown in the late 80s. He was a PG, so who knows if Chris Jackson would have passed on LSU if Bryant was there.

Perry Mcdonald and Jaren Jackson Sr. went to Georgetown too out of New Orleans.

I knew you disliked Wade but ripping on the program’s all time winningest coach is certainly a hot take. Though I can’t say I’m surprised.
Literally EVERY basketball coach in LSU’s history is better than your favorite, Matt McMahon.
Enjoy this upcoming season, LSU “basketball fan”

The late John “Hot Rod” Williams out of St Amant. Turns out that was a good miss because he actually let LSU win a game over Tulane. For those that don’t remember the point shaving situation and the NCAA shutting down the Tulane basketball program.
He was the first NBA player to sign what was considered a massive contract (yes before Jordan).
He was also a really nice country boy and never really changed like some people do when they make a lot of money.
