Richard Mandhip took care of Charlatan Brown with his lead éditorial: « It is time for LSU to ROPE-IN Dale Brown », Brown went bonkers and gradually dismissed. Good riddance, he somehow brought talent to LSU but his coaching was SUSPECT at best. Dana Kirk aptly called him « Elmer Gantry ». He never knew his place and job….

It could have been fun to see Mike Sanders and Dave Simmons, teammates of Johnny Jones from DeRidder, they both went on to play college ball. Also missed on Orlando Woolridge out of Mansfield La., he played for Notre Dame and was 6th pick in the ‘81 draft

Parish was drafted by the Golden State Warriors in 1976 (#8/1) and played from them for four seasons before being traded to the Boston Celtics in 1980. Celtics traded 2 1st round picks to the Warriors (including #1/1 and #13/1) for Parish and the Warriors sent Parish and their 1st round choice (#3/1). Celtics drafted Kevin McHale, while the Warriors picked Joe Barry Carroll and Rickey Brown.
This trade alone teamed Larry Bird (in his second year) with Parish and McHale. Red Auerbach

Woolridge never considered LSU. ND was always his favorite. I met him when he stopped at the Exxon I worked at. He and his mother were going to the airport. Nice kid. We talked while they were getting gas. He was wearing a ND sweatshirt.

I wasn’t sure if he’d considered LSU or not, I think one or both of his parents may have been teachers and had strong influence on helping make decisions. I only saw him play 5 high school games but he was dominant in those, it was like an adult playing against grade schoolers.

I actually saw Tito play in a LSU uniform. It was a scrimmage game in a HS gym in Columbia, LA. He would have been good.

He played in HS, at least a couple years but he grew like 6 inches after HS. He’s from somewhere in central LA. Can’t remember where exactly.

I watched every home game. He went to Centenary with 2 friends of his, Melvin Russell and Larry "Spaceman " Davis. It seemed like everytime Centenary would be ranked in the top 20, they always played against #1 ranked Houston, led by Lewis Dunbar of Minden.

Malone was also graping/impregnating 13 year olds while at Tech, so there were probably some obvious character issues, as well.
