BINGO. for the majority of this board if it didn't happen in the last 8-10 years they have no clue.

I have been going to and watching LSU football since 1964.

O is a very bad hire from a questionable product view and that is even looking all the way back to 1892 (yes 1892, LSU did not have enough players to come out and field a team that year.) I have researched LSU football from the beginning and can tell some horror stories of coaching hiring and firing. The good ole boy system hurt LSU time and time again when hiring and firing coaches.

This last recruiting class of ranking F for the coaching staff planning.

Oh do you want to talk about coach Mayhew or Jones or Berine and Tinsley etc, or why Paul really left.

8-2-1 season

Included a tie at home to underdog Tennessee, a loss to a BAD Miss St team, and a humiliation at home to 25-point underdog Tulane.

Stovall's last LSU team remains the only one in history to lose ALL of their conference games, and that was with a strong lineup of his own recruits.

We lost to MSU every year John Bond was the QB.... AND it came after A VERY emotional win AT Bama where we dominated... I guess you forgot that huh???

No excuses here... They got beat by a team they should have destroyed.. Yet these are 18-22 year olds kids who destroyed A real good FSU team 55-21 and were given A Orange Bowl berth... Emotion DOES have something to do with kids this age.........

Again NO excuses.. You must Hate Jerry to just bring up the bad in that season... Grow up...........

Actually I like Jerry Stovall personally. He just sucked as a coach. I attended the games and witnessed what went on during the games. The 1981 and 1983 teams were among the worst ever in LSU history.

I have been following since 1971... Howdy old-timer

1981 was A bad year.. 1983 there was ZERO excuse with the talent we had....

But you have to admit that 1982 was magical in ALOT of ways.... That team was the most exciting team to watch since the Alexander days..............

Archer

Hallman

Dinardo

As for Orgeron- we will see. I didn’t like the hire, but the decision was made so I am going to pull for LSU. I admit it doesn’t look too good right now, but time will tell. Let’s see how this plays out. FWIW, I did not like the Les hire at the time either. Also, I liked the Hallman hire at the time, so who really knows. Like I said- time will tell.

Mike Archer makes sense in this question. The other two do not. LSU hired a search firm and actually conducted interviews for both of those hires (Hallman and Dinardo). Mike Archer was more like Ed Orgeron where the staff listened to the players and got lazy.

True, but don't see where a search firm is needed to avoid a 10-25 HC and Ponamsky's binder.

DiNardo shouldn’t be in that group son.

bullshite. DiNardo was the most controversial. He had 4 losing seasons at Vandy and lost his last game there 65-0.

dinardo. Never had winning record and we paid for his buyout.

Hall man had Favre years and was a Bear guy. archer seen as up and coming assistant to some degree. o had decent interim records.

O not even close.

All the others had success as a HC or Coordinator prior.

Considering the options that were available I would say Mike Archer. Steve Spurrier and Mike Shanahan both wanted the job. One would go on to win a National Championship, the other a Super Bowl.

As much as he ended up sucking, Hallman had a nice resume going thanks to Favre.

that’s with the benefit of hindsight and knowing what the other two went on to accomplish.

at the time of the hire, neither were known commodities yet.

There was no Spurrier controversy. He was an out of work coach, looking for a job because the USFL folded.

Hallman had a reputation for being a giant killer, having beaten FSU and Bama.

DiNardo was the controversial hire. Losing at Vanderbilt his entire time there and being a New Yorker with no southern ties for recruiting made him very unwanted by fans.

Jerry Stovall was an emergency hire because of Bo Rein's Death.
