If you've ever heard a coach talk or watched the celebrations at the end of a bowl game, you'd see that the team customarily has a GREAT time at the event. They cite the hospitality, the swag, and they got to play another football game. They don't care if the game was sponsored by Cheez-It or Weedeater, and they sometimes don't even care if it was in Birmingham or Boise.

So let the kids play. Coaches like having the extra practices, even when a lameduck or makeshift staff is running the team.

All in all, Houston isn't a bad place to play a bowl game. The stadium is great. LSU has a lot of alumni in Houston -- and the visibility in the Texas recruiting area helps, too.

If LSU is playing, I'm watching. I don't figure I have another 30-40 years on this earth where I can be selective about which LSU games I should watch and which I should skip. I want to see the Tigers play every time.

I think people would respect our decision to honor our commitment and play the Texas Bowl, even with a depth chart filled with walk-ons. We wouldn't be the quitters that the Aggies clearly are. (12th Man tradition, what a fraud)

Anybody who thinks the game will be cancelled is just guessing at this point. The NBA and CDC just shortened their quarantine requirement period. The Omicron variant isn't causing fevers or loss of smell or heart problems. People are saying it's like a bad cold.

We need to play the game because that's what LSU agreed to do when it was invited.

You're a sorry arse fan and it's not your agenda. Would you feel better if it were the Sugar Bowl? Technically that game is meaningless. Last season SUCKED without a bowl game. So did 1989-'94. '98, and '99. No matter the bowl, it's always fun to play a non-traditional opponent in an extra game. You act like all these kids do is get transported into the stadium, play the game, then go home. Bowl games have all sorts of events scheduled for the schools involved during the week. It's like a vacation. I guess you're not a big fan of taking a vacation that wasn't previously scheduled. Disney World?? I just don't see the point unless you can go to the moon or mars.

I would think with the Covideans hanging onto their hysteria and the low number of players available because of injuries, grades and quitters the odds are pretty low.

117 downvotes as of now, but I think there's a better chance of us not playing than there is of us playing.

I know you are dumb as a box of rocks, but he pretty clearly quoted the reasons he felt the game might not be played.

would be really stupid to opt out. If we have 22 guys ready to go we should play.

That may be true, but LSU announced that they are leaving for Houston, by bus, the morning of the game....so NO EVENTS FOR THE TIGERS!!

Teams are not opting out due to covid, they are using COVID as an excuse to not play the howl game.

ATM had more than enough players to field a team, same with UCLA today.

We may opt out because we don't want to go and lose with backup players

I’m not really sure what’s happening. Why are all these teams dropping out now but not all year?

With an already reduced roster, any hit from the Vid will shut it down.

I think that is a mistake. Ok of they are wanting to avoid the events and such for safety fine I get that. But at least go in the day before and let them get in a hotel and rest up for the game not sit on a bus for 5 hours.

I can't wait to watch him + all of the kids that wouldn't normally have a shot. This is for them. I really hope we get a game
