John Patterson played a few years in The Majors, my roommate in College, faced him and said he threw in the high 90s.

The dude is hitting around the mendoza line and is 2nd in MLB in strikeouts. He might be 2nd in home runs, but 17 HRs isn't anything earth shattering...certainly not enough to makeup for 84 SO and hitting .200

His OPS is .815

I think his team is pretty happy

Yea I mean I can see this too... but my question is WHY? What happened?

Don't get me wrong, his stats indicate that he wasn't exactly tearing it up, but I've seen high draft picks be given much more leniency in the minors...

i mean, he hit his first MLB HR at an age(21-9mon) when he is probably younger than many players on our current team right now.

he's only 23 right now.

He's barely a year older than Kramer, Freeman, Poche

We know how good these players are but imagine them playing in the MLB in a year and succeeding. Yea, that's not happening and may never happen for them.

He's 4 months older than Russell Reynolds & Hunter Newman

Also Zach Lee of course, Riley Pint, one of the Ceccini brothers, Zack von Rosenburg, Austin Nagle, and a few others I can't think of right now.

Zach lee signed for football, Rosenburg is currently on the football team.

Just saying, don't think those two are good examples.

He's definitely "making up for it" thus far this year considering he has an OPS+ of 111.

Not sure what you're getting at. They were signed to play baseball at LSU but the decided to go pro instead, so I named them.

Pretty positive McCarthy never signed with lsu which I'm sure he'll be here to confirm soon. I remember him posting on this old arse lsu baseball board and he wanted lsu to recruit him but they weren't for whatever reason.
