To make Mike roar, the guy dressed up as Mike, would peak out from behind something. That would make him roar. Made a many games, had a pass on the field.

The only time they wouldn’t bring him around the stadium was when it was wet from the rain. Also I’m sure the wimps today would say that it is to dangerous for the cheerleaders to ride on top of the cage

Former running back for Notre Dame, Wayne Bullock, told me they used to park Mike near the visitor dressing room. Said that damn tiger scared the crap out of him.

Been going since 65. We entered in same portal as visiting team and Mike. Me and dads ritual was to wait on that fence gate till both Mike and Visitors entered field. The Bear always had something to say to those standing in that area. Mike was almost always agitated upon rolling him in, it was as if he knew ……..

I've been going since the sixties, so I remember seeing Mike being pulled around the stadium. I was never a fan of that particular tradition, so I was glad when it stopped.

Me, since 1966 when it was Mike III. And for the Pita people, I am convinced most of the Mikes thought it was fun.

LSU chose fireworks and firing blanks from that field gun over dragging Mike around in the trailer.
The cannons or crowd noise never bothered Mike. It was the addition of the fireworks that ruined it.

That was our coolest tradition and we got rid of it. I think we can bring it back if we get him out of the stadium before the pregame noise starts. I don’t see why that wouldn’t work.

Tiger Droppings really needs to set up a separate forum for these posts. It could be called "Cat in a Cage" or perhaps "Kool Kitty."

I remember when they used to walk Mike on a leash and let him jump at the opposing players, he killed 1 guy and PETA shut it down.
Yeah, I think that happened after he had gotten loose and knocked over a Porta John with a visiting Auburn fan in it, that resulted in a grill being knocked over and an Auburn van being set on fire and exploding.

Last time I saw him in person was 2011. Was on the field for the LSU v Kentucky game with my son.
