Who do we want as our radio color guy when 115-year-old Doug Moreau retires?

I think Gordy has been trying to set himself up for that job. I like Gordy, but let’s face it. LSU can do better than an 80’s scrub special teams player.

It needs to be somebody with a little broadcast experience and some dynamism. Possibilities?

I like Hester in the role. Or Matt Flynn.

Booger?

Not sure if Spears or Ryan Clark could do it and keep their ESPN gigs. Both would be good.

Alan Risher is pretty good on the radio, but we need somebody younger.

I love Booger but no, he’s terrible doing color on MNF.

He needs to be in limited doses.

I’d also throw Jacob Hester or T-Bob Hebert in the ring! I think both would do great along with the others mentioned.

Didn’t think about T-Bob. I haven’t heard him break down a play on the fly. If he can do that, I like it.

Gordy would be great. You don’t necessarily need a star player for a local broadcast analyst if the analyst is already has established himself in that field. And sometimes the guy who didn’t have a stellar playing career is better at explaining why something worked or didn’t work than the star player who sometimes succeeded just by instinct and talent.

No thanks on T-Bob. I can’t listen to him on his daily show or the pregame.

I like Gordy on the sidelines. He seems to have access. I’d go with Hester.

Probably need youth here. What about someone like Matt Flynn or Matt Mauck? Both have great voices and had a very in-depth knowledge of the game because of having to know all aspects of the game.

Risher is probably the best of these guys technically. Not sure he is all in on the gig though.

Gordy is excellent. Knowledge of the game and great wit.

It’s gonna be a former player that is already working in some capacity. Hester, T-Bob, Richard Dickson, etc

I don't understand the Hester love. Pivotal back for the Tigers, and he's in the "biz," but honestly, he's making it on his name and playing days because his radio skills are trash.

Matt Mauck?

He’s a dentist in Colorado, why would he move his practice just to be a radio color guy? I don’t here much about him in connection to LSU, he doesn’t seem to care much.

Then you haven’t been paying much attention. He has been back for some games in recent seasons and has done a ton of interviews, especially over this past year.

This is the more applicable part. He seems to have his life pretty well established in CO. I don’t see him moving, nor do I even see him giving up 13-15 weekends a year just to be the radio color guy.

Not to mention, and I like Mauck and all; but I don’t think his personality or voice are quite a fit for radio color.
