Well, we do happen to be 8-0. I read it as sarcasm making the point that we should not change what has worked so well.

We haven’t done warp speed a lot. Getting to the LOS and having the coaches read the defense and keeping the play or checking into another play has been what we run most of the time.

If we upped tempo even with Miles we could’ve beaten that team.

That’s BS. With Miles offense it would have just been faster 3 and outs.

We've had Bama down in several games in TS the last few years only to let them come back. I say if we're ahead, if we're behind, it doesn't matter. Put the pedal to the medal and score as many points as we can.

If we get up by 10 or 14, as I'm hoping we do, it will get in their heads and they'll press too much. They are NOT used to playing from behind and so I think we need to come out and start fast.

The answer is a mix. I'd mix it up so they don't know what to expect.

Seems like a game to go way up tempo. Some games you have to worry about the other team trying to keep the ball away from you like Florida did. IMO, if Bama is playing on offense to keep the ball from us, we are in a good spot. They score just as fast as we can so long drives shouldn't be an issue for the defense. Looking for a shootout where one or two stops makes the difference.

What tempo should we run?

The one where the cameras catch our passing game coordinator saying "They can't fricking stop us" into the headset.

That tempo.

Guess I'm a moron too b/c I immediately thought you meant the 8 games we've played this 8-0 season.

It will all depend on the success of the Defense. If the D can get off the field and stop 3rd down conversions then I think there will be a good bit of tempo.

Maybe the first drive they give it a shot and see how Bama handles it. Play normal pace on 1st and 2nd down on the first drive, then tempo on 3rd down and subsequent 1st down if converted.

They will test the waters with it and if successful they will need to wait and see how the defense handles the 1st couple of Bama drives.

I believe Saban will try and slow this game down and try to keep the LSU D on the field for long drives. Saban knows that LSU will score on his D and he will need to keep them off the field.

Total Warp speed, Get Alabama's def front wore out, mix in a little run , not much in first half. Keep the petal to metal. We are built for speed, and can keep rotating in Receivers if they get tired also, MCgrath, Sullivan, etc. keep bama backing up.

Coach O already stated, he is not holding anything back. NO reason to hold anything back!

If we lose, we lose at what we do best. Don't lose trying to play a slow game.

semi-warp

i sure as hell wouldnt be attempting to play ball control. i would feel much more confident in a shoot out than i would a low scoring affair

Only use tempo when it is obvious that their defensive package was wrong before substitutions. Use the run game at 4.5 ypc to wear down their defense. Then make them bite on the slant and go then see ya

You’re not going to wear down their defense
That was les’s forte. It didn’t work.
Have to pass the bal downfield

That was Les' forte against other teams. He couldn't get first downs against Bama so their defense was never tired.

Also, couldn't develop passing game so their DL and LBs would just tee off on the running game at the line of scrimmage.

You can play ball control, mix up the tempo, throw it successfully, and still wear down their defense, which is far less deep than most years in the front 7.

We don't need to constantly go fast and give their offense the ball too much. After the Ole Miss game, Saban said that was what Alabama did wrong. He knows the value of maintaining possession for longer against explosive offenses. I suspect we'll do a mix of ball control with selective up-tempo and occasional warp.

Some notes:

TAMu put up 28:
TD- 15 Plays 8:03
FG- 10 Plays 3:12
FG- 9 Plays 2:09
TD- 6 Plays 2:29
TD- 6 Plays 2:42

TAMu had 389 yards and lost TOP (29:04-30:56)
42 Pass (6.3) and 28 Rush (4.5)

Ole Miss put up 31
TD- 7 Plays 2:25
FG- 12 Plays 4:39
TD- 7 Plays 2:20
TD- 9 Plays 3:00
TD- 6 Plays 2:12

Ole Miss had 476 Yards and won TOP (30:23-29:37)
30 Passes (6.6) 58 Rushes (4.8)

South Carolina put up 23
FG- 14 Plays 4:50
TD- 6 Plays 1:26
FG- 11 Plays 3:34
FG- 6 Plays 1:03
TD- 11 Plays 1:53

South Carolina lost TOP (27:23-32:37) and had 459 Yards
57 Pass (5.7) and 29 Rush (4.7)

The reality is, Bama gave up way more points on quick drives than they did long sustained time management drives. If the key to the game is to outscore them, go warp speed. Do whatever the game dictates, obviously. If Bama can't move the ball, control the clock. I would much rather be in a shootout where we score at will then a grind out "next possession wins" type game.

I think you go methodical until unless they have to sub out one of their DBs or Lewis. If those guys are on the sideline, you go warp speed and don't let them back on the field.
