2012. Beat Bama and you win the west. That’s all we had to do. Mett had an amazing game. Our offense was hitting its stride. We had them beat. And then the screen pass happened…

Honestly that game is what set the program back under the miles years, maybe even more than 1/9

2006 team had the same record but was much better than the 2007 championship team.

Man, in 1987, we were 10-1-1

We tied Ohio State, which was painful and our only loss was to Alabama who was really not as good as us. A couple bounces or a player or two could have made the difference.

Ohio was our nemesis for a couple years. My first game as a Freshman was aTm in 86 we knocked them off even though they were ranked pretty high in the top 10. Next week we lost to unranked Miami of Ohio. Went on to have a really good season with just a couple losses.

'87 is what first came to my mind.

Were driving to get in position for a game winning FG and Hodson threw an int (which almost turned the tables).

Then he was hurt vs Bama. He did play a series but was ineffective.

We finished 5th that year. Since UM and OU were undefeated I guess it would have depended on what bowl the U would choose. No way they leave Miami to play us in the Sugar.

The losses weren’t inexcusable. Auburn and Florida were badass teams. The WAY we lost was what hurt. Auburn ‘06 had garbage officiating. Refs screwed us in Florida when Hester ran for a TD and was called down at the 1. Jamarcus fumbled the snap away on the next play. It definitely changed the way the game went.

Bro no. 4 losses is not a few plays away from a natty. We scored 0 points against Bama at home and lost to a mediocre auburn/Wisconsin team.

The Florida loss is the only one that makes no sense.

2012 Bama was heartbreaking. We absolutely kicked their arse in the 2nd half....

1967. #1 rated schedule in college football that year. Lost by 2 to Miami (17-15), by 3 @ Tennessee (14-17), tied Ole Miss 13-13 and lost to Bama 7-6. And all these losses were the result of bad placekicks.

1969. 3-pt loss (23-26) @ Ole Miss.

That didn't lose the game for LSU. Poor playcalling, and Miles going into his proverbial shell late lost that game. Same thing with the Peach vs Clemson that year.

Unpopular opinion, but 2016 was closer to a great year than the record indicates.

- Harris’ int late vs Wisconsin on the fringe of GW FG range
- 1 second late against Auburn
- Guice goes the wrong way against UF
- Hurts’ TD with 3 simultaneous holds and no flag

4 Ls by inches. It all amounts to that team not being able to make the big play when it counts though.

2016 was screwed the moment Alleva didn't fire Les the previous season. A proper coach could have come in and done quite well but nah bruh 2016 was not good

People forget about the 2005 team but with all the stuff going on that season they had a good run. I don’t think they had a bye week the whole season once it got started. At the end in the sec championship game they were just worn down. Then skull fricked Miami

One of these was a hold that COULD have been called. The other two would have been very aggressive holding calls. And even if they called them Bama would have won that game. Saban was keeping it super conservative because he knew we could not move the ball.

This is just like Peterson’s interception. Sure the refs blew it, but JJ was not taking that team down the field, anyway.

87 was another good one. Three losses I think though and that killed us. I saved all I had to go to Tampa for the bowl and Syracuse spread offense pretty much destroyed us. Fun trip though.

12-6 vs 9-6

Strangely enough I agree here. 12-6 actually looks like a decisive victory whereas 9-6 appears fluky. There's no doubt The Committee would have looked at Okie State or some other potential opponent in 2011.

Michael Ford cost the Tigers a national championship that year. Ironic, as it was Ford's run which abilified the short FG attempt, but it's true!
