re: What’s the deal with Larson? Does he not get another start this season?

Problem has been laid out already in this thread. It's unfortunate. I would still like to see him get some spot starts in at least a midweek game here or there. We very well may end up needing him at some point down the stretch and if that even is to be possible he's gotta get some ABs to work himself out of the funk he's in.

Like I said in another thread, he’s out of chances for this season.
Hopefully he sticks around and has a shot next year.
ETA: no clue why this is being downvoted, it’s pretty obvious he’s odd man out

Curiel is gonna end his LSU career as the best player to have ever played here and that’s just an unfortunate situation for Larson.
I think it’s more surprising Larson isn’t getting any run as DH especially against RHPs.
No doubt there are better defensive OF options with DC/Stanny/Jake/Pearson. That was evident before the season.
I can understand Jay liking Frey at DH against LHPs. But it is surprising we’re halfway though the season and Larson can’t get more run at DH or even pinch hitting at a minimum.
Makes you wonder if there’s something else going on. I know he started slow but he showed last year his overall hitting and power can be as good as most guys on the team.
Jay needs to give him a chance to get ABs and get into a rhythm. We will need a bat like his at some point this season imo.

He got beat out by Curiel, Pearson, Brown and Frey.

There is a place for Larson to start. Unfortunately for him it isn’t at LSU. We are stacked.

He's the 5th outfielder
He's probably the 4th DH
He's just buried on the depth chart

Well dayyum.

The competition for playing time on this team is extremely stiff. If you het an at bat, ya better do something good.

He is stuck behind a gauntlet of hitters right now. I would like to see him get some week day playing time to get some game reps for when we need later in the season

He had them but hit a slump. Bad timing for him, but it's a results-oriented game. I think he's a great player.

Larson has had 10 strikeouts in 25 ABs.. he has had his chances and failed. On a lineup this good there’s no margin for error

The lineup is loaded…. I’d like to Larson get some midweek games, to allow him to break out of his funk. But I understand that’s difficult with those currently playing ahead of him.
He’s incredibly talented. I’m rooting for him!

And he won’t start next year if stanfield comes back
It will be curiel brown and stanfield
It will be curiel brown and stanfield

Get him some midweek starts. You can’t break out of a slump without some AB’s.

Be playing at Kansas next season

Too late for that we are over the halfway point and Jay is going with who got us to this point.

quote:he's looked like a middle schooler in every recent at bat he's had this year. Just awful at bats without even a hint of looking like he knows what he's doing.

I'm sure he'll get some PH shots as the season moves on. But there is a reason he isn't playing right now, and it's a direct response to how he's performed when he's gotten chances.

He keeps trying to pull everything and ends up striking out a lot.
