What punishment are they seeking? Removal of LSU from the league? An apology?

To me it feels like they want to be able to make their own conference rules on eligibility regardless of what the NCAA rules or what they've been ordered to do by the courts.

Otherwise they are doing this targeting LSU/Kiffin/Wade.
I can't see any other reason except these 2 here.

It's a combination of both, undoubtedly.

They get to set the precedent that they're a self-governing entity while also making an example of an outlier program trying to take advantage of the current ambiguity in the rules.

I’m ok with this and it should have been done a long time ago. I’m not ok with them selectively enforcing rules and singling out LSU for doing what every other school is already doing.

Want to demonstrate they have the authority to enforce rules regardless of local state court rulings.
Also documented on the federal level they have the authority to expel member institutions (they already have that right).
Using LSU as the example is more palatable than Bama and their run in with pro player (because Bama fans in Birmingham SEC office).

Well doesn't everyone want to be able to do what they want even though the courts say/order otherwise... Yea, we'll see how that plays out!

They will get to say that their rules are sound, solid, sensible and pass legal muster

Fine with me, but that risks being eliminated for contention for NCAA sponsored tournaments.

Even a win for the SEC in the AL court gets slapped down by the 11th Circuit or SCOTUS. No incorporated entity gets to create bylaws that allow them to ignore judgments against them in any court ruling. The SEC does not have the right to run roughshod over the Constitutional rights of its student athletes.

It won't go to trial.
It'll settle before, both will continue to point fingers, relationship with Sankey forever tainted and he'll continue to be protected

Correct. The SEC is saying to LSU- DEFY the courts to obey our ambiguously applied rules OR ELSE. They are publically compelling LSU to ignore court orders under threat of severe punishment. It’s all rather bizarre. They have given no other school this kind of public threats in regard to any previous court ruling- just this one school.
