5. 2010
I think the 2010 team is overlooked a lot, that team was absolutely loaded. Basically was 2011 team plus Patrick Peterson, Kelvin Sheppard, Drake Nevis, Stevan Ridley, and Joe Barksdale. Talent wise they were up there.

2019 GOAT
2003 Most thrilling after 45 years.
2007 Got it done.
1958 It was during my lifetime because I was born during the course of that season.
1969. Just couldn’t tackle frickin Archie.

2005 was really good. Tough break blowing the big lead against Tenn and a poor showing in the SEC championship game against Georgia but a pretty solid first year with Miles

You are missing 05 and 10, both finished 11-2. 05 especially after Katrina and with a new coach.

I'm not saying this is one of the five best teams but they were one of my favorite. A 9-3 team that finished ranked 13th in the AP probably shouldn't be mentioned alongside these truly great teams but 1997 will always hold a special place for me. That was the first year where the light came on for me and I caught a glimpse of what LSU could be. That was such a fun team to watch. 2001 was also so much fun. Watching LSU win the SEC Championship was everything.
Obviously 2019. Best team to ever do it but the 2010 & 2011 teams were so loaded it's absurd. Those backfields and secondaries were insane.

Did you get permission from JD to use 5 in the title of your thread?

I was born in 87 so first memories of teams is like 90-91 and we were terrible to 95, the 95 team was the first bowl team that I had actually seen. 96 was talented along with 97. Then 98-99 sucked. Luckily most of the 2000s and 2010s we were really good. This is the first real year since Covid lol.
After the 5 listed 01 has to be up there, as well as 05. 05 team gets overlooked because of the Tennessee game and the UGA game plus usc and Texas being undefeated for the title. Tennessee was a mess and did end up sucking but that team had been through hell for 2-3 weeks, played an impromptu road game across the country, came back and then had the game delayed and then I think we kinda emotional dumped the first half getting up big and were gassed. Then proceeded to win every game after that, against UGA we have Jamarcus get hurt and had no bye all season.
There isn’t very much that separates 05, 06 and 07. One could argue 07 is the worst of those three teams but had the crazy year so they got the title. 05 lost to a bad Tennessee but there were alot of outside factors and lost in sec title game, 06 was robbed by the refs and Les miles on the plains, and lost to national champ uf in the swamp. If we had back doored into the nc that year we but the same beating on Tosu.
01 is also up there with Rohan. 02 had a lot of potential before mauck went down while we were dog stomping UF. We had the bad start bs va tech and then were looking good.

Probably the right answers, but I would throw in 1969 (I was alive but not yet much of an LSU or even a football fan), 1987, 2005, and 2010, which were also incredibly good years for LSU.
1969's only blemish was a 3-point loss at Ole Miss,
1987 had a tie to Ohio State and a 12-point loss to Alabama. Both of those teams ended the season with poor records; LSU should have won those games
2005 was a 3-point OT loss to #10 Tennessee (who ended with a losing season) but an unfortunate shellacking in the SEC title game to Georgia.
2010 was that crushing 7-point loss to Cam at Auburn, punctuated by an 8-point loss to at Arkansas.
All great seasons with a lot of heartbreak

I haven’t seen them mentioned yet, but that 2012 team was pretty good as well. Almost the same defense as the 2011 team. Offseason issues with the Honey Badger I believe hurt some team chemistry and momentum going into a revenge season.
We had a better QB and better receivers than the 2011 team. They just never had that big breakout game for some reason. If our offense performed a tad bit better than they did that season, that would have been a very interesting season. If the 2013 offense showed up in 2012, we would have won it all that year.
