The worst uniforms you could ever imagine.

It was but Skip started the bad uniform trend. To his credit he created the best uniforms. Smoke had a few successful seasons then the wheels fell off and Paul came in and brought excitement and success. Not Jay Johnson success but he went to a couple CWS.

And never won a game there.

How the hell is that a Brian Kelly comparison at LSU? It isn’t.

I'll say this. This 2026 team looks worse than any team that Smoke coached.

That pretty much describes Smoke's entire tenure which is why he didn't last

Wow. He went to the CWS multiple times. Terrible comparison.

He inherited a much stronger program than Kelly. Those things are not equal. Of course he started stronger.

To be fair, Skip brought in the black hats with purple brims.

He also brought in these GOAT unis (Only for a few seasons) that need to returned permanently.

I'd like to see these on a Gray or Gray Pinstripe.

Gosh awful uniforms. But his second & third years he made the CWS, just to be the first team bounced. We believed somehow he would eventually win it all, but it was not to happen. His fourth season we didn't make it out of a regional. His fifth and final season I remember sitting in the SRO Sports Bar on FM 1960 and Cutten Road on selection Monday, Memorial Day 2006, waiting to hear my LSU Tigers' name called for a regional. It never happened. Smoke resigned the same week.

The end was bad, but his final signing class did have Blake Dean, Ryan Schimpf, Sean Ochinko, Jared Bradford and Jared Mitchell (was coming for football).

In the time I’ve been old enough to follow and understand LSU baseball, he’s the only coach who did not win a CWS

Sports Bell was th worst uniform company ever. Out of New Iberia, came up with the atrocious fonts. The basketball uniforms were equally bad

He was lazy

I will forget me a buddy was at the first game of the smoke era. When it came time to make a pitching change he didn’t come out. He sent the pitching coach out to make the change. My buddy went crazy raising hell saying that fat fricker was so lazy he couldn’t even make his own pitching changes.

I know I’m in the minority here but I absolutely loved the black units and the black hats with the purple bills. Loved them, wish like hell I could find a fitted one now without all the other stupid shite on the side of them. Just the interlocking lsu, black hat, purple bill. Absolutely loved that thing. They had one in Omaha last year in a 6-7/8 and I was able to get it for my son.

To the topic. Smoke had early conference success in the first year with Skip’s players but we quickly fell off the following years. To the point where no one had any faith in the post season. That’s how I remember it anyway.
