re: What Wade did tonight for LSU will resonate for years

Probably in the minority but I agree with you. This has to be the most intense NIT game in a while. Will Wade did a great job of handling the shade through the week and then backfired with his teams play and the intensity of the game.
The excitement from this game will rollover to next year and maybe we should let ULL play us a couple times a year to reward y'all for raising the stakes for this game. But y'all learned not to frick with Will Wade tonight

Unnecessary? Yes. But that was a bit of old school bravado. Stuff like that used to happen all the time in the 60's, 70's, and 80's.
The legendary coaches of the Big East were constantly taking shots at each other. Same for the Big 10. I'm sure (if he was there) Dale Brown was proud. Few stood up for his program like Brown.
Make no mistake. It was calculated on Wade's part. He saw an opportunity to generate some passion for his program in an otherwise meaningless game and took it. It wasn't about ULL as much as showing his players and future players he's not backing down from a fight.
He's pissing off some opposing coaches in the process (hence the Yahoo article), but sometimes you have to ruffle some feathers when you are trying to dig out of mediocrity. Brown and Brady were fiery. Johnson and Jones were anything but. The results kind of speak for themselves.

I appreciate your somewhat civilized attempt to discuss the game, but you can give up. The way your coach acted all week and again last night cemented the fate of this series for a long time. Will Wade would not piss on your school if it were on fire at this point. He genuinely dislikes you and your brethren.

And guess what? If y'all wouldn't have played UL tonight, you may never have realized this type of atmosphere and intensity was possible under Wade. This is what many are trying to say... UL and LSU playing every year just makes sense. The hatred and intensity sells tickets, is ridiculously entertaining, and makes for exciting basketball. And Cajun fans travel very well for a mid-major.
Wrong. Your coach running his mouth in the media leading up to the game created last night's circus. Thanks, Bob.

This. Not only that, but once the program gets to where it needs to be, we will be trying to toughen the schedule. USL won't get a schedule, not because anyone is scared, it's because you're irrelevant to us.

I said it in another thread and I'll say it again... make us play in BR every year for all I care. Keep calling us little brother. It's hilarious and entertaining. But for God sakes, let's keep playing this series. Why not? You win every time anyway right?
You really want to play LSU every year with the trajectory Coach Wade has them on right now? Could you imagine what they would do to ULL next year with the incoming freshman class?

Dude was out there throwing haymakers. That's exactly what we need.

I truly think he will leave LSU with the highest winning % of any coach in any sport at this school in history.
I would be happy making the tourney every year, maybe even an elite eight appearance here and there.

Y’all act like LSU just beat Kentucky in the Final Four, lol.
It was the NIT 1st round...against ULL. C’mon...this embarrassing reaction shows just how long of a climb Wade has with this program.

No on is acting like that. We're laughing because ULL fans and their coaches acted like baby back bitches leading up to the game and Coach Wade made them look like fools during and after said game. If you can't see that then I don't know what to tell you.

We went from dead fish on the sideline for basketball to dead fish on the sideline for football

I swear I’ll never understand fans like you. Simply scared to death to actually hope and aim for championships. You need to go hang out with the “I’m happy with 9-10 wins a year, a good bowl game, and maybe an occasional top 10 finish”. News flash...to make championships your goal doesn’t make you greedy or selfish.

I love it when he gets fired up and starts yelling into the crowd.
It seems organic and sincere. It doesn't come across as an act enforced to me at all.

You are over thinking my post. Someone claimed "2-3 national championships...." yadda ya. Would I love to win every title in every sport every year? Absolutely, but that is not realistic.
WW has coached here one year, and before I start "expecting" championships, how about we make the dance first, then get out of the first round, etc. My expectations will grow when LSU shows they can do it.

Whatever we're paying him....it's not enough.

Man, I really don't hate ULL.
I more feel sorry for them. You guys hate LSU a lot more than the other way around. Last night was more of an anomaly. I don't see it being much of a competition between our programs going forward as we actually re-build our team to the level it should always be at.

Fair enough I can buy that.

Championships are always the goal but to make it to where it’s championship or it’s a failure of a season takes the fun out of being a fan.
Only 1 team gets to hoist the trophy every year. Yes, I want it to be LSU every year but if it’s not, it doesn’t mean we suck.

This is exactly what I was going to say. I've been going to LSU games my whole life. I haven't seen that kind of intensity or rivalry especially from our coach since Brady. Will Wade is the real deal. For anyone in the PMAC who had doubts last night, they were overturned. For those still skeptical? Be ready. This team will escalate very rapidly with the incoming freshman class and our Lord and Savior Will Wade.
