They have spent 15 million in the portal

That figure had to be plucked from the imaginative mind of some internet poster. Nobody knows how much they've paid for transfers, whether more or less.

They have the roster that is equipped to win a natty next year. It’s that simple.

And cash. Lots of cash. I think lane has convinced his boosters of the same.

Nope. They will win games, but they still won’t win the big ones.

Unless you know someone who works for their collective.

But you don't know anyone in their collective who would have that information. Stop being that guy who tries to pretend he has some inside source.

Well. When you can’t recruit high school players you don’t have much choice.

That being said, some of you frickers need to calm down. You act like they are pulling 5 star players out of the portal. 3 and lower rated 4 stars at best. It’s irrelevant as they’d defense will still suck balls next year and they will go nowhere.

You obviously didn't see Nolen committing to them. He is a 98 five star, and someone LSU really needed and tried really hard to get.
Trying that hard and losing out to Ole Miss is really disturbing.

It’s too bad our staff didn’t have the wherewithal this year to recognize that we had a generational offense and didn’t spend up in the portal to make the defense competitive. MASSIVE missed opportunity as I personally feel this year will go down as CBKs best chance at a natty.

They have a well organized and well funded NIL collective. We have a bunch of well meaning individuals doing their own thing.

We had chances on the guys we lost to FSU.

And that’s the issue everyone has.
Those schools saw the opportunity and did everything they could to win. We saw b Fiske come in and dominate the ACC champ game.

Dont use the fact that fsu is not playing in cfp. They did everything they could.

As of now, no one knows if Lane can turn those recruits into a Playoff team, or whether he can sustain any type of success. If Hilton had managed to hold onto that last pass in Oxford, LSU would be the one with 10 wins and a New Year's Six bowl.

I don't expect Florida State to follow the Kiffin model. They got a few star players through the portal who definitely helped their success this year, but they're recruiting too well to jump all in on the portal revolution. Kiffin can't recruit like that at Ole Miss, so he has no choice but to bring in transfers.

Michigan State was actually the first school to go all in on the portal with any degree of success when they signed 15 transfers and completely turned the program around. They crashed the next season and continue on that path.

There hasn't been enough time to tell whether the portal-heavy approach can be successful as far as sustained winning is concerned, but programs like Ole Miss, Colorado and TCU will provide the evidence of that path, while Georgia, Alabama and Ohio State will see if the recruit-first method is still the valid model.

Mike Farrell was on Sirius College last week. He was asked about OM. Things he said

1.) they have the best run collective in CFB. Not the most money but run the best.
2.) OM still lags behind the other power brokers of the SEC in HS recruiting.
3.) lane has convinced the OM money that next year is the year and step up

That all makes perfect sense. Ole Miss hasn't even won the SEC Championship since the early 1960's, and they understand the portal and NIL is really their only way. Lane has never been a really good recruiter, and Mississippi doesn't provide enough top players to satisfy two in-state teams and other schools that cherry pick the state.

If Ole Miss wants championships, the portal and NIL provide their only ticket.

I don't know if I would go that far. But given what they are expected to return and their 2024 schedule, I'd say next year is their best chance in decades to legitimately make a run.

A two loss SEC team is unlikely to be left out of a 12 team playoff. OM's non-conf schedule is awful. (On paper) their SEC road schedule doesn't look terribly daunting: At LSU, South Carolina, Arkansas, Florida. They don't play Alabama or Texas. They do play Georgia and Oklahoma, but both are at home. It's not unfathomable to think they can win all of the non-conf. games, and go 3-1 on the road and 3-1 at home, for a 10-2 season.

If I'm an Ole Miss fan (and I'm glad I'm not!) next year is the year to go "all in", and it appears they are doing just that in the transfer market.

Ole Miss is in a “win now” mode like pro teams get in.
